I am a term employee for USCIS and my term is close to ending. I have applied for many jobs and am curious if there is a way I can find out if I do well on KSA's or am rated eligible, what would the reason be for the application not being forwarded to the hiring authority? I received one today that said I was eligible and was told by a co worker if the email stating it had been sent forward did not folow within a couple of hours it probably was not forwarded? Is this true? I am very curious if there is a way I can find out why, it would be a big help, as I know I am qualified for this job, as it is a job I do and the only difference is location. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Based on your post, it appears that you don't have "status" & are not a veteran.

If you could add a bit more information about yourself & the kinds of jobs you are qualified for, it would be helpful.

The Career Planning & Development board has many more readers than this one. It is more likely that an HR specialist would see & comment on your post if it is on this board.

Depending on the application, sometimes you will get notified on your score from the agency's reply, if it was DEU. On merit promotion (MP), there is no score. Since you are a fed already, I am assuming you applied under MP (status). If you are rated "eligible", it basically means you passed the initial qualification. If you were
"referred", that means you are on the Certificate of Eligibles (cert) and the cert was forwarded to the Selecting Official (SO). The SO will then decide who he will interview. If they never contact you, that means that the SO was not interested in you, e.g. no job. Just because you were "qualified" doesn't mean you were "highly qualified" and referred. How do you know you are "qualified"? Just because you applied for the same position elsewhere doesn't mean you "qualified". The screening requirements and PD could be totally different.

If you are only a term employee then you do not have "status" and unless you are a vet or had prior federal service, you would be wasting your time applying for merit promotion jobs.
I am sorry, but I do not have the time to respond to private messages. I will not respond to them.

Yes there is...you can go to HR and find out who rates resumes. Ask if they will rate your Resume, so that you will know your strengths/weaknesses.

The reason your resume will not make the referral list is because, you have been rated not the best qualified or not eligible to apply.

Thanks for the replies. Believe me no one knows better than me what it means to be term and have no status. The faces of change have been pretty ugly, but I will not give up. Term gave me opportunity, timing was the dragon. I love my job and am resigned to the fact that it will be a long process finding another one.
I have read everything I could get my hands on about federal resumes and am becoming quite good at it Razz I have applied for jobs, just for practice. I am very aware of my limitations, and only apply for jobs I am qualified for,and have had my hopes up and my hopes dashed many times.
I have watched this forum for a very long time and have read great advice on here which is much appreciated. I think its great that those with knowledge are willing to share!
