I recently interviewed with a federal agency, FEMA.  Its only been a few days.  My question for any guidance feedback for those that have experience or gone through the process is how long after you are interviewed are you notified if you offered the position or not?

From the same day (actually happened to me) to a year. Sorry, there is no set time frame.

I am sorry, but I do not have the time to respond to private messages. I will not respond to them.

It depends on the Agency needs, funding and who knows what.  I interviewed over a month ago with Commerce and have heard nothing yet. Still I apply, apply, apply

I interview with the FDA and it all happened fast... one week for them to check references and send my packet to HR, another week until the official offer. But, I've heard horror stories of months and months with no answers.... it just depends.

When they get around to it, they tend to take their time.

DHS is known for being notorious slow. However, if after 30 days you dont hear anything contact the HR rep who set you up with the interview.

To avoid the wondering game, I always asked towards the end of the interview, when I should expect to hear from them, and at what point after that date it would be acceptable to call to request the status without seeming rude.  Most interviewers understood and were willing to give me their best estimate.

Right now a lot of the departments are waiting for budget approval prior to moving forward.  For some, I would expect nothing concrete until around March.  It seems they work on a 6 month budget.  Work 6 months then everything is on a freeze because they don't have the new budget approved yet.
