Procurements

Procurement is the acquisition of goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership, in the right quality and quantity, at the right time, in the right place and from the right source for the direct benefit or use of corporations, individuals, or even governments, generally via a contract, or it can be the same way selection for human resource. Simple procurement may involve nothing more than repeat purchasing. Complex procurement could involve finding long term partners or suppliers that might fundamentally commit one organization to another. [Wikipedia]

I know, kind of off putting? And I'm interviewing this week for a procurement tech job! Oh well, I'm not in Federal Civil Service for the excitement ...

There is an entire discussion board for procurement and contracting, Where in Federal Contracting. You can findit at www.wifcon.com  There is no need for another such board here.

For me - I have 40 years in and now they want me to start DAU training - I got out of contracting 20 years ago - Production control was fine - but FARS - DFARS paper work - not for me - Went into buyinf roawhile when it first began then switched to Transportation - where I just have to pay the shipping vendors invoice - We were given so much time to complete the courses as there is no other positions open to us - I can understand for those wanting to upgrade from 1106's which I am - oh well we shall see - Angel

Big smile  AS a Contract Specialist, it is surprising that there is so little content in this Forum.
Procurement is a complicated field, and the pressure to award Task Orders can be tremendous, especially in July, August, September, when everyone wants you to spend their expiring funds.Angry

There are many other forums for contracting - wifcon, the ACC, etc.  That may be why there isn't activity here.

I left contracting 20 years ago - not my cup of tea - now that I have 40 years in they want me to take contracting classes for my series - - when I wanted to take them years ago - I was told no - so looking at all alternatives - I guess I am just afraid of retiring - after working so many years - -

I have 3 yrs of procurement.  As a whole, we are an aggressive, driven and overworked group, which most likely explains the no responses...we are just too darn busy.
