I checked the OPM site to find out when  the 1099R is due to be sent out.   I have been getting the 1099R every year since I retired, and the deadline when it should arrive has been on the  OPM Index.    This year I do not see it on the OPM index.  Does anyone know when it should arrive this year 2010? wowee2010-01-15 11:56:13

I want to do my 2009 taxes, but don't have the 1099-R from OPM that I need. I was never sent the 1099-R in the mail.

I signed in on the OPM website https://www.servicesonline.opm.gov/ and went to the section where you can view your 1099-R. Problem is that the latest 1099-R is for tax year 2008 ... No help there for me!

I emailed them and asked them when the 2009 tax year 1099-R will be viewable on the website ... They didn't have the courtesy to reply to my email.

These folks at OPM should take a lesson from the people running the DFAS / MyPay website. The 2009 military retiree 1099-R has been avilable now for almost  month on that website.

They were starting to mail them out on the 15th and if you live in the Philippines probably it will take a
week to get to you and the 18th was a Federal Holiday and in the US the 19th just began in the
East Coast 3 hours ago and in the West Coast about 41 minutes from this posting.  May want to
check the web-site again, today.

As recorded on OPM's voice mail notices, they are scheduled to mail the 1099R forms and post them on the retiree's web site starting Monday, 25 January 2010 for the 2009 tax year.

Thank you RetiredHappy for giving us a reliable response, unlike some of the others posters on this cite, who seem to delight at shooting their mouths off while doing very little if any verifying.

This is why I do not ask questions on these sites. Have a question go to a  good source of info, O.P.M is a very good source of all kinds of info and they are very helpful.

RetiredHappy. You were absolutely correct. I just went into the OPM website a few minutes age, and they have now posted my 2009, 1099R form. I assume that since mine has posted that all the other people who want to download or see their 1099R's are posted as well. Thanks again for the very useful information that you posted. It is indeed unfortunate that some of the other persons (mostly serial posters) who posted under this subject did not know what they were talking about.

Mine not in the web-site early this morning and stated it would not be until 2/1.  I just checked again and it had been posted and the recorded messages and printed messages from OPM changed a couple of times.  By law your tax information is to be in your hands by 1/31 and it is kind of peculiar that SS would have their statements out by the 15th because that is when I received mine.

it could be because social security and OPM are two different federal agencies. To the best of my knowledge no two federal agencies are the same.

I checked an mine was online today. It will be a while before I get all of my own and my wife's tax related papers but getting the majors give me an idea of how the return will go. This is the first full year of retirement for me so I expect future years will follow this pattern.
