DHS

The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

So on April 26, I received a tentative offer from DHS Acquisition Professional Career Program. When I asked how long it takes for clearance, she said usually 8 weeks or longer. Now, I turned in my Eqip stuff on May 7 and they plan on bringing in everyone in September. So I have 4 months to get my clearance. How long have you been waiting/how long did you clearance take?

I was a contract specialist at DHS and I only needed an interim secret to get a start date. I remember receiving my TO in April, filling out the paperwork late Aptril, meeting with an investigator in May and starting in June. I think I have received my final offer early June. Hope it helps.
