DHS

The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

I received a referral notice for a Congressional Liaison Specialist position with the DHS.  It's an open continuous vacancy so they must have an immediate need.  Does this mean I should expect to hear something back relatively soon?  Has anyone else applied for this position and heard something? Or has anyone else heard from an open continuous vacancy before it closed?

Actually, I'm think the opposite on that.  Usually, when there is a continuously open vacancy, they're gathering information on how many interested people there are for a position.

If there were an immediate need, the vacancy announcement would last no more than a week.  Just my opinion.
