Hello All,

While I have found that i have been mapped to a position in the DC area, the rumor mill is that we're to be converting from Dept of Army to Dept of Defense. I have been working for the Army for about 8 years now and have grown to understand the climate/culture pretty well.

My question is more towards the DOD route. I was hoping that some comments could come from this string about how the DOD life would work out. Things like the following are questions in my head:
1. Will there be ample sources of training for career progression?
2. Are there avenues of advancement on the purple side of life?
3. What will the culture be like?

I know that I will do my best anywhere I lay my hat, but at this point I am trying to get a better idea of how it will be when boot***** the ground.

Thank you in advance.

Smile sbubba32: I do not think you should have much of a problem with converting from DoA to DoD.  As a DoD employee, you should have access training and development funds fairly similar to what you had with the Army.  Do not sweat the transfer, it should go fine and you might be helped by it.

If you are working for the Dept of Army you are already working for the Dept of Defense, therefore there should be no change.  The Dept of Army is just one branch of the Dept of Defense   Sounds like you are either reorganizing or just having a name change.
