Hi, I just applied online for one of the DEA Intelligence Specialist positions open in Georgia. I was wondering if anyone has applied recently and how you were contacted about the job, whether you were offered or were not offered an interview? I saw topics on this from 2008 and 2009, but nothing from 2010. I was wondering if they just contact you by mail or by phone or both? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Telljack, I applied to various DEA IRS jobs in late June--the announcements that did not require a 'Selective Placement Factor,' in bold letters. Someone from EPIC (the El Paso Intelligence Center) called & e-mailed me on 22 Nov for an interview. He called me by my home phone when i was at work, and then e-mailed me. I got back w/ him and scheduled an interview in early December. He told me you cannot interview by phone for this position, you have to be there in person to fill out paperwork & take a written exam. So...I will do this. There is a risk I will not be selected for this position after the interview and exam but I believe it is a worthwhile risk to take since I have received such a limited number of interview requests from other agencies. I will fly out to El Paso on my own dime in positive anticipation of the best. All I know about the exam is they give you a scenario w/ fake message traffic and you analyze it and write your analysis down on one page. It is a test of analytical and writing ability more than anything else.

I was told they're interviewing up to 25 people for 11 positions at EPIC. They should finish with this round of interviews in mid-December. I don't know about other locations.

One more thing...just a friendly reminder to everyone, don't post anything here that would violate a non-disclosure agreement. This place is a great forum to network and compare notes (and I'm all ears for anything that can help me in pursuit of my goal), but don't post anything that crosses any ethical boundaries. Its not worth it.

Long time browser first time poster!  FYI all, I have applied for Intel positions in Florida with close outs on 22 Nov 10.  I called DEA HR around 20 Dec 10, the very nice lady stated that they would not even look at the resumes for Florida until sometime in January.  She said that they are looking at their most critical areas first.  Will keep you all posted when I hear anything.  BTW, if you have any questions, I may be able to answer you as I am a retired Intelligence Analyst from the Air Force and currently work for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) as a contractor.
