So you are stating that they are only going to check the last 5 years.  And you want to know how they are going to investigate something beyond that 5 years.  You should reread your own statement/question.

So are you now saying that they require past employers beyond 5 years?

It doesn't sound serious to me.  NO ONE, not even the Investigator knows how much chance your friend have of passing HHS suitability/background.

There's already a couple entries on this website about being fired from a job.  Try searching the word "termination" or something like that.
