Just thought to start a thread for DHS NPPD FPS Federal Protective Service, it seems that the other threats are spread out about this agency.

As of 12-20-2010 the newest announcement has closed, for
LESO Canine handler, and interviews are going on for Supervisory Security Officer LESO.

So let’s hear everyone’s story on the unknown road to federal employment.

I applied for the 1811 positions that openned up in the beginning of Dec. I'm already a 1801 (FAMS)and a 10 point Vet, so I hopefully should get referred to a hiring official. I did see another LESO position open. Godd luck to you. Bro

good luck to you also. I am doing very well in the process, but would like to build a solid thread on fed soup for all the others out there. I am well past the interview stage and get calls almost every other day to contact people in the process. But until that happened I had no clue. The current position I am in process for is a GS-13 and i have had interviews across the eastern half of the USA. I would also like to see positive input to the forums so i felt I could contribute some instead of lurking.

My back round is civilian LE and Military service as an officer with 25+ years under my belt.

well it is my hope that the divergent threads on fed soup for FPS can all fall under one place. It would make it a lot easier to find.

so lets post..

A non-competitive action is one which allows placement
into a position without competition because the employee or applicant has
previously held the grade of the position being filled or a position with promotion potential at least as high as that of the position being filled.

An employee or applicant who is eligible for a
non-competitive placement action need only meet the basic or minimum qualifications for the position.  Non-competitive candidates are not rated and ranked against the job related criteria (knowledges, skills and abilities).

Non-competitive procedures may be used if the employee or
applicant is eligible for a non-competitive placement action as described above
and if the merit promotion and placement plan lists the non-competitive staffing method as one of the exceptions to competition permitted by the plan.

Generally, use of non-competitive procedures is
discretionary—the selecting official may choose to use competitive procedures in lieu of or along with non-competitive procedures.

Im a current IEA and was referred for NC, Miami and Vegas (NPPD 1811).  Im not hopeful that Ill hear anything additional. I have been referred to the selecting official for NUMEROUS other 1811 gigs and it stopped there.  Im hoping because Im already a permanent DHS/ICE employee that Ill have a leg up.  Good luck ya'll.

Hey you never know...

I am retired local supervisor, BS Degree, retired military commissioned officer, 10 point Combat Disabled.

I was always trying for entry level and would get referred but no interview or call back so you never know what will happen.
