DHS
The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

Anyone have the number to call if your medical history paperwork (From comprehensive health services) that was supposed to be shipped overnight , did in fact not make it?

Your paperwork got lost? Hahaha I'm not surprised. CHS/Dallas Service Center have a habit of delaying /losing paperwork. Good luck my dude. Best bet is to call your hr rep... they can give you the direct numbers

Hi guys, been following this thread for some time, just to get an insight into the hiring process. Background military (Army) 11 yrs, physical security/anti-terrorism experience. I was offered a TO at the March 24, 2015 hiring event in San Diego. So far here's the timeline in my process;
March 24: TO (San Diego Hiring Fair) April 21: Medical April 27: Background (EQIP) May 13: Additional background Docs request Aug 26: Additional docs request for medical clearance Sep 11: Medical Cleared Sep 16: Drug test
Does anybody know how long does it take to find out anything after the drug test? Still haven't heard if I have cleared background or anything, and does anybody know where I can find out when the next UPTP class is or where I can find out? Good Luck to everyone in the process, I know it can be lengthy one but just keep a positive attitude...

Drug test question, just like the military no news is good news.
If you need confirmation your HR POC can confirm your results after a week or two, I would give it 3 though.

Hey guys hope all is well! Any good news from anyone??? Im still pending medical....( not surprising) I had a friend who was going through the same thing as far as medical clearance, he actually had his doc say he was fit for duty, but the MRO still wasn't satisfied so he has to get another evaluation from a different doc.... he was pissed off that he had to go and get another one. So he made the appointment to get it done, not before filling a complaint with the Office of Special Counsel, its really crazy to see that the medical portion has the VA compensated vets jumping through hoops!

Email or just regular mail Well I don't know what the standard way is but, I did my medical on April 21st and on that Friday (April 24th) got a packet in the mail with 2 fingerprint cards and no instruction with a return envelope. On Monday (April 27) got an email with instructions to complete the background paperwork (EQIP). Hopefully that answers your question. Good luck with the process, what region did you get an offer for? which fair did you go to? Tell you the truth there's going to be a lot of waiting around with this process and no feedback on where you are in the process, that whats frustrating with the whole process (at-least in my opinion..)

I had to submit additional medical documents. I submitted the required documents in September and was told last week that I'm still pending review of those additional documents. Does anyone know how long the process can take for DHS to review the additional documents? I've been in this process since May 2015. Any help you can provide I would great appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks Dcpopo and I realize it hasn't been a very long time; however I was told during the job fair that the process should only take 90 days to completion. Also your comment doesn't really address the question about the time it takes reviewing additional documents. Good luck with your process & hopefully you will get a call soon.

There isn't a real time table to follow, every applicant is different, some guys (w/out VA compensation ) get cleared quickly, some as fast at 60-90 days.... then guys with compensation will have to jump through hoops to get cleared...(couple of guys have waited almost 18 months just for medical)

WOW - that is crazy to wait 18 months for an answer especially when the job fairs are strictly for 30% or more disable vets or campaign medal recipients.

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to get some info on any upcoming hiring fairs. I'm a current 0083 and trying to move over to FPS. I got a contact for an inspector in my area but I'm not sure that will be beneficial at all. Any advice on doing a lateral?

2+ years into the process and I finally called it quits and resigned from the hiring process. This job is not worth all the hoops that they are making me jump through. I'm better off at a local agency. Good luck to you all waiting for a medical clearance.

Honestly, its just the whole hiring process. 2+ years to tell me that I needed to see another doctor besides my VA doc for another evaluation. On top of that I have to come out of pocket, wait again (however long it takes to review new med docs), for a job that isn't even guaranteed. I don't even know where I will have to relocate if I did get the job. So it was a bunch of negative factors I have been experiencing with NPPD and Pre Employment. Don't let me deter you guys from this agency, I do have friends who are in FPS who still like it, but at this point it isn't worth my time anymore. Sorry for the rant fellas!
