I just used opm.gov to change my direct deposit info (to a different account at the same bank) and I got a confirmation message saying that the change would be effective 3/1/11 and that I would also get a confirmation of the change in the mail.

I then used the menu to recheck my direct deposit info expecting to see the new account number that I had just entered, but it still shows the old account.  Has anyone ever had the same experience?  Does it take some time (e.g. overnight) for the updated info to appear on the website?  Or does the website just show the current direct deposit info (in other words, the info used for the 2/1/11 deposit) until 3/1/11?  Either way, it's unnerving to deal with a website that doesn't have real-time updating and doesn't allow users to confirm what they just entered.

nothing changes on the OPM web site until after the cut off date.  in this case after feb 18 2011.

because you could change it again before the cut off date.
Retired postal worker of 38 years who is willing to help even though some do not want to hear the truth.
