DHS

The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

I've been in the background check since 10/2010 when I passed the medical evaluation.

Has anyone ever contacted Persec to get their status during the background check. I tried to get a reply via email with no luck and Help Desk didn't have any additional information from Persec either.

I used to be an OPM background investigator.  The investigator is given two weeks to complete the case.  It then goes to the decision makers.  It can take anywhere from 3 weeks (Priority) to one year.

My background check took 4 months to clear and I've been in the RP for almost 2 months. Kroll, an outside company performs the 1st stage of the background check. After you EOD, OPM will perform a more detailed background check (ANACI).

I received a letter via FedEx yesterday, stating that the results of my pre-employment investigation require further explanation from me to enable their office to make appropriate eligibility determination.
I have to provide documentation and an explanation of prior lay off and termination within 15 calendar days beginning with the date I received the letter.
