I've just received a referral, my score was 100. I am working with USCIS as contractor since July 2010. I have applied to too many positions and this is the first one I got referred to.
I took the test in VT March 28. I speak two other languages, I don't have any experience related to dealing with immigration issues.

edswebmaster,

Thanks for sharing it with us. I just have one question in regards to your education. If you will please will you share that too? Do you have a BA or any other advanced degrees?

I also received a referral for Vermont at the 9 level (my rating was 100).  No immigration work experience, but I have 1 grad degree and I'm close to having a second.

I got a 95. I have a law degree and a master's (international law and policy). I have taken courses in immigration law and asylum/refugee law, and have worked on numerous immigration matters (business immigration, asylum petitions, etc.) as an attorney. My Spanish is also pretty good (I lived in Central and South America for over a year). I thought I was pretty darn well-qualified for this position, but obviously the competition is pretty fierce.

I got this email from HR today:

"There were issues with some of the notices not being received because of the large volume of applicants.  I will resend your Notice of Results right away.

Qualifications and resumes will be reviewed before sending any referrals to selecting officials. Due to the number of applicants, we anticipate this could take 4-6 weeks before you hear anything further."

I also received that same thing. I was found eligible for 7 and 9 but I still do not know what I got. They told me over the phone but I have not received it in writing.

I also received this weird part where they say "You will receive an email notification in the future ONLY IF you are referred to the selecting official, otherwise this will serve as the final notification regarding the final status of your application."

Eagleone have you receive anything?

av.tv,

I just received my NOR saying that I did not pass the test but no score.  Did they even score them? I am still in running for other positions. Good luck to all that made it and I wish you the best.  I know VSC is a very nice place to work.  Things happens in life for reasons and I am sure something else will come up.

Eagleone,

I really thought you passed, good luck to you as well.

Regarding the scores I do not what to say, I do not have one for now.

This is what I received.

Note: Your eligibility may be based solely on your responses to minimum qualication questions and may not have been reviewed by an HR Specialist to determine accuracy at this time.

Series - Position Title:        1801 - IMMIGRATION SERVICES OFFICER
       Vacancy ID Number:      433695
       Announcement Number:    CIS-PJN-433695-ISO-ESC/WTC
Western Telephone Center Los Angeles, CA
Veteran Preference:     0 Points - NV (not adjudicated)

You must meet all medical, suitability, and qualification requirements to be considered for a position.

       Specialty Code:   001
       Specialty Title:          Immigration Services Officer
       Grade:    07
       Rating:   EL
       Specialty Code:   001
       Specialty Title:          Immigration Services Officer
       Grade:    09
       Rating:   EL
       Rating Code     Rating Message
EL      You are eligible for this specialty and grade.

So no score for me at this time. My guess is that they have not reviewed all of the applicants so we need to relax and wait for them to go through everyone who passed.

av.tv,

I think your chances are better than mine, since you know  your are Eligible for specialty and the grade that you applied for.

I got my points as 85 but no referral or any other notices, yet.

My friend who also tested on the same day that I did, just got an email saying that she did not pass the written exam but was not given a score, I am wondering if she still stands a chance, since she has 11 years working  with an Immigration attorney and she is very familiar with most of what Immigration is.

Good Luck to you all

Mariah,

I would say just keep positive and wait it out to see how it is. When I call to find out two weeks ago I was told by HR person that this time around they are not going to score it would be pass or no pass but then people started getting scores so I thought they changed their mind. It is a process and we need to be patient. I just don't understand how would that happen for an attorney not to pass.

In any even I am going to patiently wait and be positive just hoping my advanced degree and work in immigration field will get me an opportunity to be interviewed. Although I am not an attorney I do have experience assisting attorneys with all kinds of immigration issues.

Thank you and good luck to all

I think CIS looks at your resume, test scores and answers to the online questionnaire (if you had to do one).  For this particular position, I'm not sure that speaking different languages or having legal experience will necessarily get you in the door.  I don't mean to discourage anyone, but the fact is you may be overqualified.  I know,  probably not fair, but I'm sure they are looking for the best fit. And I've been THERE before (overqualified). My understanding, at least at the entry level, is that you're working with files, conducting database checks etc.  There's nothing glamorous like interviewing subjects in different languages or going in the field to conduct investigations, at least not that I know of.  Also, as has been said, the government doesn't work quickly.  I waited almost a year to get in my current position.  Hang in there, don't give up, but also, keep looking. That will keep your spirits up, hopefully. Good luck to everyone.

I know what you mean and I do agree that knowing three languages will not get me the job but I do hope that me being exposed to immigration field for so many year and my good grades for MS degree will.

In any event I do look at other postings but this is what I want to do so I am going to patiently wait and see what happens.

Has anybody received referrals for GS 5 or GS 7?? It sounds to me like only people at the GS 9 level have been referred so far.

I emailed HR today asking if the referral letters were sent out and this is how they responded :

I am very confused because the email they sent out shows that the referral letters have NOT been sent out yet. I'm not going to give up yet.

Yes, (Public announcement - Score 100) the essay for the status candidates came out last Friday; it was due by Monday at noon.  I received the same announcement this afternoon for the public announcement.
