Has anybody that went to the 3 day interview process for material courier in August 2010 heard anything yet? I've been calling, leaving messages to the recruiters and HR and nobody will respond to emails or voice mails. Last I got a hold of one, in December I was told I would be sent the equip invite when the selecting official was ready..still no word yet.

I applied to the Sep. 2011 announcement as well.  I was referred, then completed the Federal
Agent Interview Questions in Nov. and told in late Dec. that I had been
selected and would receive a packet in the first part of Jan. 2012 outlining the next steps in the hiring process.

Today, Feb. 16 2012 I received a letter from Luann Chapin, the POC on the announcement, that the vacancy was cancelled.  I want to be so angry, but at this point in
my overall Fed job hunt I’m just numb. But at least she sent me a signed letter
rather than an email or worse a notification from USAJOBS that the announcement had been cancelled.

The important information in the letter is as follows:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that this vacancy is cancelled.  After we better
understand attrition rates and future mission needs we will be able to develop a new strategy for hiring couriers.  If
you wish to be considered for employment with OST, we encourage you to monitor USAJOBS and apply to future vacancies.

I monitor the OST website pretty frequently and have seen future vacancy announcement dates for March 2012 and Sep. 2012.  Today when I looked there both dates were removed and only a recruiter’s email address remained.

Just when you think you get ahead in this Fed hiring process
and have a potential "in" for a dream position, the door slams shut.  Don’t know if I ll even put the
effort into applying again. Ms. Chapin response in the Dec. email stated that the potential academy start date was not until sometime in 2013.  Who can realistically wait that long,
especially with all the potential SNAFUs that are notorious in the Fed hiring process?

I don’t know if you or others have had similar experiences
with OST but with so little information out there about Nuclear Couriers,
Special Federal Agents, and the Office of Secure Transportation I feel like I have some sort of responsibility to share my experience.

Good Luck to all future applicants.

I called her a couple weeks ago and got that same answer. No letter as of yet, like she told me. I guess we will just have to keep sending essays every year or two.

New requirements this time..:(

MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATION REQUIREMENTS All courier positions require the operation of Government-owned motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers. Therefore, applicants must: • Possess or acquire a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment; • Have a satisfactory driving record; and • Continue to qualify after appointment for authorization to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable Federal regulations.

Yeah I saw that but I dont read that to necessarily mean that an applicant needs to have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) in order to drive the tractor trailers they use.  I read it to mean that you must have a valid state drivers license, which would be a must considering the nature of work. I know that at the academy you learn to operate the tractor trailer so I would assume that during the course of training you would earn your CDL's.  I mean you can only PT and shoot so much in a 5 month long academy, Right?

You are totally right. I don't know why the first time I read it I thought it said must have CDL..
Well I reapplied.this will be the third time since 2010. Just hope we don't have to write essay samples, again!

Yeah I applied too.  My burning question is when is the prospective academy start date.  Last time it was posted in 9/2011 the academy was sometime in 2013.  This time around who knows, just how long do they expect those selected to wait??

Yeah exactly, and the last announcement was cancelled due to budget cuts.. why would a couple months difference change the status of the budget..?

Didnt know that budget cuts were the reason.  Following that train of thought though would lead me to assume that their budget was increased or funding was allocated for NEXT fiscal budget year which begins in October - which means that an academy date would more than likely be sometime in spring /summer 2013 after clearances, medical,  and psyc evals have all been completed and signed off on.  So if you think about it, if the information they gave me last time was correct, we are still looking at a 2013 academy at the earliest, assuming they dont already have a previous group of selectees already in the pipeline for an academy.

Well atleast it gives me a reason to get back on the training program they put on youtube.

I ll post any intel I get and selection status as I get you.  Good Luck.

Going to update this thread for the courier position that closed 11/8/2013 for Albuquerque NM. On 12/2/2013 my status changed to Referred.

My status for the Amarillo, TX announcement is still received, but keep in mind that posting closed 10 days later on 11/18/2013.

Where is the training conducted?

Any info would be helpful...

thanks

I applied to the Amarillo, TX announcement. Don’t look at the USA jobs status, its meaningless. The NNSA application portal is what you need to be looking at.

Mine says “my name has been sent to the selecting official”

Did you receive any e-mails yet?

I know on the officer.com forum, there are a couple individuals who have received tentative/conditional offers

did you accept the the NM or TX opening. Seems like they are still sorting out the NM announcement.

I just did my "online interview" then my status changed.

Do you remember how long it took the "selecting official" to send your offer letter?
