Second interview conducted but I'm still waiting on some kind of notification.

There were examiner position jobs that just closed with CFPB for CN30 and CN40 in NE region on USAJOBS. What happened to the prior announcement? Did anyone get hired off of it? I'm wondering why they put out a new announcement

I applied to an examiner post last year and had to take an assessment. I didn't score well enough for consideration and I know there was something that said the score would stand for a year. On the new postings the assessment isn't mentioned, does this mean that they aren't using it anymore?

I'd like to know the answer to that also. The new Examiner position announcements don't say anything at all about an assessment.

Unfortunately, it looks like most of the people who used to frequent this thread have stopped coming by. I have a friend who's an examiner and he had no idea about the evaluation. He was shocked when I told him about the evaluation in the first place. It seems that since the agency is still relatively young that hiring processes change frequently.

I'll let you know if I hear anything.

That's good news and congratulations to you. I have an interview on Tuesday May 17 for a very similar type of job: Credit Union Examiner at NCUA, this is the counterpart to the CFPB and the FDIC. You use a lot of the same skill sets to do the exams. Wish me luck. I haven't gotten anywhere with CFPB yet.

Update: I have received a Tentative Offer from NCUA to become an Examiner. Working on my background investigation now and hope to receive notice in June to begin in July. NCUA seems to move faster than other agencies like CFPB. I'm excited for the opportunity. While this was going on, I received several more non-referral notices from CFPB for the Examiner position. Good luck to everyone reading this, I'll check in for updates occasionally.

I am often amazed at how short handed we are and how difficult it is to find qualified candidates for the open positions. Stay positive and keep applying. Great organization, with a lot of growing pains and changes constantly.

Can you or someone else here share more details about the Assessment CFPB requires for certain jobs. I am looking at the job application and it says eligible candidates will be contacted to perform this 2 to 3 hour writeup or so. I am in IT.

I applied for the Examiner position in NE region in April. I was referred two weeks later and received an email today asking 7 yes or no questions verifying that I understand the travel and relocation requirements of the job. Anyone know what's next?

Is it true that the CFPB has a similar pay grade system as the OCC ? How does it work ? I applied for a OCC grade V position which has a range of high 80s to 168 in Boston. As a new hire, do I get the lowest amount within that range or do I get a salary within that range based on my current salary ?

The pay scale is on the public website. Your salary could be anywhere in the range for a particular grade.

Received an interview invitation about two weeks ago and then received a notice that they are temporarily postponed for time being. Anyone else in this spot heard anything else? Has anyone been offered a spot from the April announcement or have any information?
