If i resigned from a government job last month and now have a new offer at the same grade, do i have to start out at step 1 again? I was a GS-11 step 9. I had four years of continuous service.
I had to resign to save my home from foreclosure. The people renting my house destroyed my home to the tune of 10,200 dollars in repairs. I couldn't foreclose and could not find a federal position in South Carolina. I hope i can regain my GS-11 step 9 or at least close to it.

You can retain your highest previous rate but management is not required to give it to you. They can offer you step one (up to step nine in this case). Usually they will give you what you already worked to but sometimes you have to request it because they just might not be awake. |
