The site that I was referred to doesn't show the PM's salary....but I asked a good friend and he says about $70k or more a year.

what do you know?

And, does a postmaster really have a cushy job? get to leave whenever, Saturdays off, sits in the office most of the time, etc.

The site you were referred to DOES show the PM's salaries! It shows pretty much all postal employees salaries.

In case you're still having a hard time finding out what PM's make at that site Inception, I went ahead and started a new search, for title I selected POSTMASTER. The results that appeared showed there as being 24127 PM's. And it shows the salaries for each and every 1 of them.

Here ya go...

Interesting how you ran the search for Postmasters.  I have used that site for a good while and have gotten into just looking up zip code search . . .  funny, how after a while, you forget it has other means to search.

Inception - there are PMs that make less then carriers or clerks.  Just depends on what size office. Some only make 40k.  Average in our area is mid 60's.

reason my PM didn't show up on the search using my office's zip is because we currently do not have a PM!, we have an Officer In Charge.

Here is a link to the NAPUS site with EAS postmaster salary ranges. It's #4 on the list and goes by EAS level.
http://www.napus.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/EASPayPackage.pdf

Smallest full time (8 hour) post office is EAS 11. Smaller offices, (2, 4, and 6 hour offices) are shown by hourly rate instead of annual salary.
What your salary starts out depends on your wages when you were promoted to the office. If you were making $50,000 and you were promoted to a EAS 11 or 13, you would probably get a small raise, so you would be close to the top of the pay grade for EAS 11. You would be about $5000 from max in a 13. If you went to an EAS 18, you would be nearer the bottom of the pay scale for that level, but wouldn't take a pay cut. The exception would be those part time offices. You would take a big pay cut down to $18.18 an hour.
