Does anyone have any experience with keeping their doctor after their spouse retired from military? I currently have GEHA (United Healthcare) but was using my hubby's USFHP at John's Hopkins. I would like to keep my doctor but wanted to ask anyone on the forum if they were able to just update insurance info at the medical center to keep the doctor they have. IF not GEHA, what other insurance works great with John's Hopkins care centers?

You would have to check with the doctor and hospitsl. Hospitals and doctors within hospitals are all different. What plans do they accept - United Healthcare, CIGNA, BCBS, etc. Is doctor/hospital a Preferred provider, Participating provider or non-provider for a plan. Sometimes big out of pocket co-insurance depending on clasification. What are you willing to pay to keep doctor, premium and co-insurance wise. (BCBS Basic only pays for preferred providers - 0 payment for others.)

Check it out quickly. 12/12/11 is fast approaching - end of open season
