Got selected for an interview at the FAA 3.5 weeks ago. No call or email yet. Only emails saying no final decisions made yet. Interview went very well, I think. It wasnt for too long, but it was fair, fast and fullsome. They covered all topics of KSA quite well. All in all it lasted about 15-20 minutes. What do you all think ? Any such similar experiences ?

The delay could be many things, but if you are a Veteran, it is definitely discrimination.  Best thing you can do is ready yourself to Litigate.

Veteran unemployment to 0%.

I interviewed with the FAA and did not hear back at all.  Finally after about 3 weeks I called HR and got the “we were just about to call you” response.

I say give them a call and find out what’s up.

I am not a VET. Was not qualified. However, what I dont understand is why the delay is after the interview of so many weeks. Why dont they say, either I flunked or I ave gone to the next stage or something like that... This delay in response is bothersome..

It may because of the pending FAA authorization in Congress.  Three and a half weeks is not long, don't be impatient.  Congress hasn't had a budget in three years, relax.

Called HR. They asked me to wait. They haven't made a decision yet. That's it.

I am having a similar experience. Interviewed with Faa in July 2011, drug test, background check, and checkride in August, all successful and then discover in November the entire Faa on the operation side is in a hiring freeze until further notice. My only gripe is nobody tells you anything other than sit tight. Any news on when the flood-gates with respect to hiring will open will be appreciated.

Since the budget for the faa has been approved, it should be soon. Trickle down economy. I am so eager to start working. This wait is incorrigible. It has been 2 weeks since I last sent an email enquiring. Do you think its time to send another reminder note and also mentioning the congress approval of the budget ??

The way I understand it, hiring should resume after the president signs the bill into law. I have many friends that work at the Faa and they are hearing the same thing. I've waited for six months on this job and have heard nothing from H.R. since November 2011. We should hear something soon after the bill is signed into law.

Not likely.  I see this kind of discrimination against Veterans all the time.

Rest assured - veteran hiring is very much alive and well at the FAA.  So much so, in fact, I quit applying for any jobs open to "all U.S. citizens" since veterans make the cert regardless of qualifications and bump everyone else off.  I was a star performer at FAA for 11 years before I took a job closer to home...but, because I'm not a veteran, I don't even make the cert regardless of my experience or the fact I have 28 years of federal service.  Unless a job is also advertised merit promotion, I don't stand a chance of returning to the FAA.  BTW, I love our veterans and I'm married to one, my first husband was one, and my Dad is one...so don't go there Wink
