Hello, my question is this: I am currently a civil service employee with the Dept of Air Force in an NH-II position and I applied for an external posting for a different "series" position within the same majcom, same base just different unit which is also an NH-II category. I was given an offer lower than what I am currently making. I want to accept the position but do not want to take such a drastic pay cut. Civilian personnel has told me that by accepting the position I would not lose pay or in other words they would have to keep me at my current salary but put me on pay retention. Is this correct assessment, as I am getting differing responses from co-workers? Please advise...

I would believe what Civpers tells you, over opinions from co-workers. Never the less, get that pay retention in writing before accepting the job. It will be good insurance, in case of future issues. Good luck.

Recieved a notice that OWCP since 93 has under payed me to the tune somewhere of 9000.00 per year. However in their letter they talk about what is owed OPM if I have gotten any payments from them. Well I am in limbo now. Got told by a operator at OPM that I would recieve benefits in April. Turned out he lied and like a idiot I told OWCP to stop payments. I didn't know they had a differant story everyday. Last I was told it is in a file cabinet waiting to be calculated as everything is approved. Today my status went to MC with OPM (Medical care only). Is there a way to nudge this along I cannot wait 5 or 6 months.

It seems everybody has a story where my file is from in a file cabinet or being calculated, Everyday is a new story. Last I was told that if they get to it before 20 Apr I will see something in May. If not maybe June. So I am waiting for a underpayment check that may take a year to recieve as fast as OWCP moves. Or 2 years due to a backlog there. Any suggestions I figureall I can do is tell SSDI all I have is SSDI for the forseeable future. Any suggestions out of this mess. Also don't take  OPM at their word.

Congrats on your job offer.  Don't be shy...request all pay issues in writing.  As a civilian, over the years I have worked for several agencies (DOD and non-DOD).  All positions are not automatically covered by "Safe Pay."  Also, the HR specialist or department could make a mistake or may not be aware of the rules.  Do your homework!
