Did anyone apply for the opening today? I have been reading that one does not receive LEAP pay upon completion of the academy. Anybody know how true that is?

I threw my application in as I do all of them, but I don't much about the LEAP Pay. When are we suppose to start hearing something back for this one?

Considering how active the other forums are with this very topic, I suspect they might get their 5000 applicants fairly quickly!

I agree.. 5000 apps nationwide would go fast especially entry-level..

Hopefully it would be a quick turn around. My experience from nation-wide vacancies is that they "need" personal. So, it should move "federal fast."

Do you think someone with a Bachelor's in Information Technology degree would qualify for this opening? Or are they targeting more the criminal justice, sociology, law enforcement candidates? What are you're thoughts?

techagent,

It's anyone's guess.. From my understanding they bumped it up to GS7 entry to reduce the amount of street hires. This was from a DUSM friend of mine. He told me what a lot others told me, they bumped it up to bring in a higher quality of applicants.

You never know.. Just stay positive..

Yes, there isn't any LEAP until your are promoted to a deputy marshal. It supposed to be with 3 years, but I have seen a friend or two wait more than 3 years as an 0082 before getting promoted to a 1811-12. Max you will make is around $48k base.

Well I guess I can take a hit. I'm a GS12 so I'll just keep my base until I guess I get LEAP. The FCIP was two years.. We will see..

You apply Biggs?

Ya brush i did. I don't know why, but I did...lol I already get LEAP, so I really can't take the 30k plu*****. They will not even match your base. All you will get is $48k plus locality, then $52k (well they might match you up to GS9) It's designed for college graduates and not experienced professionals. I was hoping that this discrepancy would be noticed and dealt with, but I don't think it will. We will see. Maybe my wife will hit the lottery so my salary isn't a factor..lol

Hey biggs,

I feel ya.. I get AUO.. I like earning every dime I work.. But I foresee how the Patrol will shift and they are going to LEAP. I rather look pretty in a court room than dealing with the damn shift work. I spoke to a DUSM yesterday they will match your base. If they don't match my salary I can't take that big of a hit.. Plus try to scramble for all the O/T I can get..

Good thing is there is light at the end of the tunnel on this one.. Plus, I think you rather get off that damn SV scale..

I withdrew my app for FAMS. I don't know how you guys do it..

Just by the way, I sit next to a USMS recruiter and work on the Fugitive Task Force.  This announcement will work much like the FCIP in that you will receive leap after 2 full years of service.  I have two close friends who went through the academy during the FCIP announcement and both were GS-11 with LEAP on their 2 year anniversary.

To Brush you ain't lying bro! The SV system is corrupted and is horrible. Managers pic and choose who on their teams get IPIs (raises). It's run like a middle school lunchroom. I am sure you have seen the FAMS OIG report discussing the "old white male way of thinking system we have". Lol. If they match my base of $60k, will think long and hard.

Yeah.. I understand.. I just don't think you need to be flying and getting *****ed. Two years is better than a career of getting *****ed.. I just like the Monday-Friday, holidays, and weekends off schedule. I am sure they will match your base.. The government can't pay you less.. We would just be GS07, step 00.
