I'm a PSE 13/13 and I'm wondering if anybody knows how they calculate your high 3 years of salary when you don't work all 26 pay periods. I talked w/ a few folks at ASC and they told me that my retirement would be based on what my yearly salary would be if I worked year round (even though they understand that I only work part of the year). I assumed it would have to be pro-rated somehow and tend to not believe the people in Albuquerque as they're batting about 500% for me on other issues.

Say for example on paper my yearly salary for 26 pay periods is 40,000 but I only work 13 pp netting 20,000. I would assume that my basic annuity calcuation would be .....using the formula

1% of high avg. 3 years x creditable years of service

.01 x 20,000 x 30 years of service = $6000/year and not
.01 x 40,000 x 30 years of service = $12,000/year

If anyone has any insight on this I would be greatful.

Your retirement is based on an entire year's salary.  I am also a 13/13, getting ready to retire, and my calculations from HR are based on 40,000+.  Smile

Yes, it is a marvelous perk! I knew a "timber beast" who had put in probably close to 30 years.  When he realized this, he asked to be reduced from full time to 18/8 until he retired.  They complied and he could not have been happier. Smile
