VA (Department of Veterans Affairs)

The United States has the most comprehensive system of assistance for veterans of any nation in the world. This benefits system traces its roots back to 1636, when the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony were at war with the Pequot Indians. The Pilgrims passed a law which stated that disabled soldiers would be supported by the colony. The establishment of the Veterans Administration came in 1930 when Congress authorized the President to "consolidate and coordinate Government activities affecting war veterans." Anyone here actually working at the VA located in Manila, Philippines?  or is that spot only open to Philippine locals? Just wondering how to even get a job over there as a GS employee :)

There are only like 8 Americans who work out there. There are no shortage of people for these jobs. Look elsewhere.

Go government!

I have seen the Director position open up fairly recently, but you do not normally see too many openings for Manila. Coolas70degrees2012-04-06 09:45:32

According to the office's web site there are 11 Americans at the office.  They are probably all middle grade and above.  I agree the openings are probably very hard to get.

Working inside the embassy, I wonder if you would have to get a top secret clearance?
