This job posting is from 3-8-12 to 3-7-13. Theres 2 postings, 1 is open to current Federal employees and Veterans, the 2nd is open to all U.S. Citizens. I applied for both since I qualify. They have several locations open. I applied for King City, Ca and others from California. Will they wait for a full year before they refer candidates to the SO? And what is the procees? Its the 1st time I applied with the AVUE System, but got the hang of it. From what I heard its hard to land this type of job, but I heard its easier to get in if your applying for positions in California.

My experinece is

4 years Marine Corps Infantry
5 years Federal Bureau of Prison as a C.O.
3 years Department of Defense as a Police Officer
I only have about 40 college credits in criminology.

Sometimes there quick and sometimes its depends if the locations are actually hiring.  All the areas listed doesnt mean they may be open, I know by experience.  A fellow officer received a call with in two weeks.  Just depends on them and what location is actually open.  May be 2 weeks, 6 months or even a year.  Took 7 months for me.  But my opinion only apply under merit promotion you will have better luck in the competition for the positions that may be open.

I see. And whats your current status. I read your prior post on other topics and noticed your going from DOD to USDA or Army Engineers corps... Is there reason you dont wanna work for the USDA Forestry Service? I would imagine that the Army Engineer Corps would probably run like DOD. You'll probably agree with me that DOD is just a bag of ass. Lol. Anyways good look.

Lol. Cool. I was working at the Federal Bureau of Prisons when that job came out. Alot of guys went to work for them. I just hate air planes! I'd imagine how annoying that can be to always be flying.

Im going USDA, corps of engineers didnt select me which is fine, ill still be making more at USDA.  My position was announced the same way as the LEO for USDA with many locations.   I didn't get the location choices as I was under the impression in the anouncement.  I only had one location avail. which was oklahoma by Fort Sill "Ugh".  Which is fine i guess, but they said I can build contacts and transfer to other locations if selected.  I took it because us DOD police and guards positions are off the TDA, but then found out everyone in my position are getting moved (Which I still work for DOD right now) and my supervisor didnt say anything to me about (which could have prevent me from uprooting my family cause I was under the impression I wont have a job).   I found out by word of mouth, and my supervisor lied to me when I asked about people being moved, but was confirmed by a higher supervisor.

Yeah, theres alot of rumors with "DOD POLICE"! First they were fighting to get LEO Status, then they wanted to make us all 0085 (GUARDS), then they said we are no Longer DOD, We are DON Police. Even changed our badges and patches. I even heard that we are "Contracted Employess" and not really Federal. I laughed about that one. Whatever, I have a total of 8 years civil service and my SF-50's speak for the selfs.  Glad to hear you got the job with USDA! Sorry about the location though. I'm guessing I'll have the same issues. I actually just got reffered to the SO for a Physical Security Specialist as a GS-9 two days ago. If I get this job, I'll just stay with DOD...

"But my opinion only apply under merit promotion you will have better luck in the competition for the positions that may be open. "  I don't see how it improves your chances to apply only under merit.  Wouldn't it improve your chances to apply both?  Can you please explain?Question

I know as a veteran, it would be a smarter choice to apply for both announcements.

Yeah, from what I heard here and on other sites is that it'***** or miss with the U.S. Forest Service. I applied for both postings to better the odds. I think I have a better chance with the "Status Candidates/Merit Promotions" posting, instead of the one open to all U.S. Citizens. Who knows though...

Just received a referral to selection official for the open to all candidates position. Anyone know how likely it is that a person referred actually gets an interview?

I just received the same e-mail Today around 4:30pm. I am refered to the Selecting Official under the "Status Candidates" posting. Not getting my hopes up though. There's probably thousands that were referred to the SO.

samehere this 2nd time I applied for this job, and told I got the email that I was selected and being refered to so for an interview. The weird thing those when those they never updated my status from the first time I applied which still says "failed basic qualifications" so I am confused if they made at mistake with the email they sent me today say I am qualified and selected.

Just got my email yesterday for both Status and All US citizens. I didn’t see a specific location on any of the emails. I also got a ton of copies of the email didn’t know if it was a glitch or what? I got 12 in total. Most likely glitch in my GroupWise.

So, I just got an update from the "Avue Central" website. I was told that 3,080 people were referred to the SO for the job posting OCRP-1801-579-LEO-DP(2) and 60 people were referred to the SO for the job posting OCRP-1801-579-LEO-G(2). This is what the Avue Advocate told me. Now, I dont know if this was the total number of applicants that was referred for all locations or if this was the total number that was referred to my specific location.trosas92012-05-05 11:44:33
