SweetPea is correct, in today's market there are more applicants then jobs.  Have you considered signing up for the military?

From application to EOD it only took me 12 months to be hired by Border Patrol. Believe me when I say that is one of the fastest federal law enforcement hiring processes.

It took me from posting date/hire, six months and that was with an overseas move.  I think that is extremely fast and that was Navy.  Truth be told, it all depends on who is pulling for you on the other side, and how bad they need you there at that moment.

The Navy does a good job is hiring in less than 6 months.  I have seen Navy hires is less than three months, but this is considered really fast.
