Doctor Z,

If a person retires FERS the last day of 2012, will they receive a COLA (assuming there is one) in 2014. Does it matter at all if they reach the age of 62 in December of 2013?

thanks!

If a FERS-covered employee retires on Dec. 31, 2012, and becomes age 62 sometime during calendar year 2012, the retired employee will be eligible for the first FERS COLA taking effect January 1, 2014 (assuming there is a COLA in January 2014).
