So with the new CCA position I have a quick question about hold down rights. As it stands right now most TE's have a start time of 9:00 to 9:30. If a CCA puts in a hold down on a certain route, will they be allowed to start with the regulars or is that still determined by upper management?

Amen my brutha!!!! Once you have a a hold down you are guaranteed the schedule of the the route just as if you were a regular.

the only gray area right now is what they can/will do about the N/S day. As a CCA it is understood that you may be scheduled to work every day, but with a hold down, there is still the day the T6 would be carrying your route. My guess is they will make you work, if they need you, and wont care about your N/S day.

I say bring it on though. I have worked 6 days a week since I started, and would like to keep working 6 days to compensate for the pay cut.

Please explain. I was under the impression that CCA's would be starting at 7:30-8:00.

Whatever the normal start time is at your office, that is when you start when you are on a hold down.

That start time is different everywhere because of truck timing..for example there are offices around me that the regulars are in at 645 and my current office is 745, and my new office will be 8.

If a CCA puts in a hold down on a route and is awarded the hold down then the CCA would carry the route as if they were the regular.
If they are not on a hold down then they can schedule you any time they wish.

Got it. I was misunderstanding. I thought you were saying it was not allowed to start at the regular time, but I now realize you were saying management can not determine your start time if you are on a hold down.

I thought the award (or existing policy) said the hold down can be altered to capture undertime by the regulars if it exists. Wouldn't that mean they could have one of them case your route?

Can a cca put in for a hold down on a vacant t-6 string. You know, like before 5 day starts and completely screws all cca's even the ones who probaly wouldn't have applied if Donahue announced that a few weeks earlier

I was told I'd be required to work 6 days if I'm a hold down. Not complaining, just saying how my office will work in that regard.

yessssssssssssssssssss

this is the safest option.

for 1, clerks who transfer to the carrier craft cannot take a t-6 string

and 2. best chance to make regular

Thanks.    They won't make a cca a regular now as a t-6 with the new 5 day news. I got two vacant strings at my office and was banking on that. I'm sure management will put a freeze on hiring t-6s wit the uncertainty of 6day delivery

they do that then you will file a grievance and then get paid whatever hours you work that day and then you will get paid for the time the regular spent casing on your "hold down" route
