DHS
The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. [Their] duties are wide-ranging, but [their] goal is clear: keeping America safe. (source: www.dhs.gov)

Hi again! Anyone heard anything lately?
Is Asylum also in a hiring freeze?

They provided an EOD and I gave two weeks notice to existing employer but now I see this info about the freeze. Does anyone know what is happening? I tried to follow up with HR on status but got no response.

Hello everyone, I hope you are staying safe and healthy. I just wanted to know if there has been any update on regards to this position for those that I applied and were referred last year?

I guess I'll wait like everyone else. Does anyone know where this training is, is it Glynco, or Charleston? Good luck to all!

I did not know they had posted the Refugee Officer position. I am in my background check for AO. Yes, are they still doing physical trainings?

Does anyone know what scores they typically look for with Refugee Officer writing assessments? I was left scrambling for an adequate answer to the prompt, and received only a 4 out of 6 I believe. I hope it's not so low it completely kills my chances. =/

I am in adjudications for the AO position. The tentative offer was originally provided last July. My investigation was handed off to OPM in January. I recently had to respond to a few more questions. Hoping that a favorable decision and EOD is coming soon!
In the meantime, I applied to the RO position in February. I was recently referred and completed the writing assessment.
Any advice on handling these two at the same time?

Any advice on handling these two at the same time? Did you interview for the position or received a TO without an interview?

Also - I received word that the Arlington office is delaying onboarding due to COVID-19. This was specific to the AO position but I assume it's impact is a lot wider.

I have been told there is a federal hiring freeze right now. Anyone with a TO who had any movement such as receiving an EOD?

Regarding Refugee Officer, that was posted in February of 2020.
I still did not receive any kind of updates through email.
However, when I log in into USAJOBS and on additional application information for this job....
here is what I get "The office has decided not to fill this vacancy at this time."
still says referred on USAJOBS...
I applied for both, internal and external.... |
Moving to CN, and you can't stop me!!!

I applied for both, internal and external.... There is a hiring freeze on all internal and external applications due to COVID. We aren’t back in the offices fully yet so you probably won't get any updates until end of July.

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. I'm wondering if the USCIS offices are back in the office or dependent on county restrictions? I'm concerned if the official offer comes when they are back in the office and my child is only offered digital/virtual learning how will I juggle other than scrambling to find a nanny? Any info if the federal offices are in line with the public school systems for single parents like me? Anyone have an update or the first possible date that the budget could be passed? thanks

How does traveling work for the asylum officer position when they do interviews at other locations like detention centers? Is traveling done on Monday and Fridays or on the weekends? Do you get full pay for the days you travel?

If there are reasons why they may need a full day of work out of you on Monday or Friday you may be required to travel on a weekend. Travel time is compensated, whether it is done on weekday or weekend. In addition to your regular pay, and/or overtime/comp time if applicable, you get a percentage of the applicable M&I per diem on your travel days.
