Hi everyone,

Long time lurker, first time posting.

Here's my story and some background information. I am a 14 year Army veteran, current public school teacher and educational research graduate student. I have one class left to complete my Master's degree in education. I Was told by my principal in April, that my position on campus had been dissolved and I would be displaced to another high school within the district. The campus they assigned me to is much further away from home.

I decided to begin searching for federal jobs almost immediately. Found the GS-1701, GS-1712 and GS-1750 series all had openings at various installations within my area. I was selected for an interview for an Instructional Systems Specialist position, GS-1750-12. Still waiting on HR to respond to my request for pay step increase, and leave accrual credit.

Hi All,

I wanted to contribute the results of my process, it's been said here several times, progress through this process is simply good news. I found that keeping my attitude in check and being grateful for any progress is essential as time grinds on.

8/06 Position Closed/ applied
8/07 Notice of 10 point preference (60% disability)
8/08 Referral for position
09/14 phone interview
09/25 in-person interview
10/02 Phone Tentative offer, 10/05 T/O Offer accepted, 10/10 Actual T/O email sent
10/10 USAJobs Onboarding credentials completed
10/12 Background QIP completed
10/17 PIV fingerprinting
10/25 Occupational Health Screening
10/29 pre-employment TMS courses completed
11/14 Final offer extended
12/24 Start date (beginning of a pay period

This process is complex and involves a lot of working steps, I noticed some people get pretty frustrated and the resulting advice is to keep looking (good advice). Good luck to those still in the process.
