Government agency direct hire

SF-86 submitted: Sept. 1 2016
Credit Pulled: Oct. 2016
Employer Contacted: Nov. 2016
Investigator Interview: May 1 2017

Haven't heard anything since. Coming up on 10 months. Would be great to hear something. Can we still call the FOIA number even though the case is with NBIB now?

Good news everyone!

Clearance passed: 8/2/17
EOD: 9/5/17

Keep hanging in there. It is a long arduous process but it will come through. I wish the best for everyone.

Congrats!

Hello, long time lurker first time poster!
I received my TO in Dec 2016 for a non-mil/vet/security agency, I completed all security requirements the first week of Jan. 2017, as I waited for the process to be completed I learned I got stuck in the hiring freeze..... I, like many others, have been waiting ever since. So my question to you all is, does any one have any insight on what to expect in the coming weeks/months? This is a position that will be a career changer for me and is very much wanted, so I remain hopeful the offer is not rescinded.
I've kept in touch with my HR manager every two weeks and still nothing. Anyone in the same boat have any indication of what to expect?
I've been checking on USAjobs and this agency is advertising positions all over the county, could it be once 10/1 hits that the hiring will open back up? (I know the hiring freeze has since ended but I believe many agencies decided to keep hiring frozen.) Clearly, I am speculating but that's all I can do.

Thank you for reading and best wishes to you all!

No one knows what's going to happen after October 1st. For that reason, most agencies are scrambling to bring people on-board before then. Unfortunately if they're not trying to bring you on now, they have no intention of filling your position this fiscal year. I suspect the cert you were selected on will remain in limbo indefinitely and you may never hear back about it.

I am new to federal employment process. I have a couple of questions and I would hope the forum can help me.
I am posting my timeline
Job closed-07/20/17 open for 1 week only
08/04/2017- received notification of best-qualified referral for GS-12
08/10/2017- received email asking if I was still interested
08/11/2017- notified- that I was having interview on 08/14/2017- email came in at 4:00pm on Friday for interview time on Monday at 9:00am
08/14/2017-completed interview was told there was a lot of candidates and only one vacancy. Was also told that they want to select before the end of the month.
What is the normal time to wait before notified of acceptance or denial? Is it common to hire from outside when only one vacancy job open to all us citizens? Why did I not get some time to prepare for interview? Most of the postings I have read seems like interview comes months after referral email. Please help I have been on pins and needles since interview. I believe interview went well but they did not ask for reference and did not ask if I was willing to relocate job is not in my existing area.

Blide,

Thank you for your input, you bring up some very good points. I remain hopeful that the offer won't be rescinded though, I think disappointment is forthcoming.

There's really no normal here. It could be days, weeks, or even months. Personally I've gotten offers in as quick as 2 days but the longest I've waited is 3 weeks. Then typically those selected will learn far quicker than those who were not.

Depends on what the selecting official is looking for. There are definitely some situations where external hires are preferable to internal ones. I've seen an external hire selected over a more qualified internal one simply because of external factors that were out of either candidates' control.

Depends on scheduling. Frankly federal interview are nearly impossible to prepare for anyway. The language is so vague on many of the announcements that they don't even tell you what you'll be doing until the interview.
