I recently applied for a supply technician position with the Mint in Denver and I was referred to the hiring official on the 5th of this month. Should I call the hiring official or should I wait it out? I'm also a disabled veteran and I was also awarded veterans preference. The position is at the GS-5 level, but even with my Bachelors degree in business administration, I am looking for the best opportunity to get my foot in the door. I really do appreciate any comments or thoughts.

Unless your Veteran status changed (say from 5 point to 10 point) wait, if you make the list they will call you.

Thanks. Do you know anyone who works for the Mint, or are you familiar promotional opportunities within the agency?

Hi there,

I work for he Mint in San Francisco, and as a vet I would make contact to show your interest. It couldn't hurt and it would put a face to your application, you could also ask for a tour of the work place.
