Does anyone know why a DI actually needs a comprehensive medical exam? The position does not carry guns, does not have arrest authority, it isnt considered hazardous duty.

I just worry bc I am a Type 1 diabetic and I dont want that to be barred from employment for a position that isnt LEO.

Due to the various environments a DI could be working in it is important for (s)he to be in good health. As for diabetes, as long as your A1C is within normal range, you will be fine. I have Type 2, and my medical is suitable.
I'm sure others could give more accurate information (Gear Up), but I hope this helps.

Has anyone who is awaiting medical or has to redo medical having issues with getting it done? Contracting agency has scheduled it a few times and then cancels before the appointment.

I’m supposed to redo mine next Thursday. How soon before do they cancel on you? Curious if it’ll happen to me

So they just rescheduled me for a month away now ugh. No longer next Thursday but end of June. They explained why though. They said lab services for bloodwork is currently suspended so because our medical requires lab work can not complete. They are hoping it is up by the end of June.

I'm taking the exam tomorrow. Are you notified of the results immediately or is it a few weeks to get them?

You won’t be notified of results at all. If you passed and move on you get a call for an interview.

After GearUp let us know of the potential time frames for reopening, it got me thinking. Has anyone heard from the previous group that was already in the academy? Obviously a lot of us are anxious and chomping at the bit for new info for when the next academy is and if we will be selected to go, so I figured I would pose the question.

No but I spoke with HR last week and they said next class still has no scheduled date yet. They have me checking in every few weeks to make sure my redo medical clears in time but they said having it moved to end June shouldn’t be a problem as the next class has no scheduled date and it will be “quite awhile” since the other class still has to go back and finish.

I took the proctored test last week and contacted the phone number on the announcement. I asked the nice lady that answered if and when they will tell me whether I passed or failed. She told me that it will be about two months til they let EVERYONE (at one time) if they passed or not. They need to allow everyone to take the test... then for those that need something like a make-up exam... for them to take that. So, it will be a few months til we find out.

You should expect a few months in between each step. I didn't get my proctored test results for 3 months. Then, it was another 3 months before I was offered a chance to interview. 4 months later, I did my medical. That was in Fall 2019. Due to COVID-19, time lines are stretched even further. As many have previously stated in this forum, live your life as if you haven't applied for this position. It takes A LONG TIME.
But, do not give up! Hang in there and enjoy the ride. As "GearUp" says, "It's definitely worth your wait"
Good luck to you. Stay safe!
