Congrats Giants! Anyone else get a call? I received my SF86C and location preference sheet in the beginning of August.

I had one change on my SF86C, and that contact was already contacted a few weeks ago.

Hoping to get THE call this week!!

Congratulations! I think you're one of the first ones to post on here about receiving a preference sheet in the Sept timeframe. Do you remember when you received your SF-86C? Also, do you know if your clearance was final or interim? I hope you get in this class now that you've completed the final step in this long process.

Surprisingly, I didn't get an SF86. Perhaps it's due to already having a clearance. I also received no word on my interim clearance either. Strange. I guess it's true... no single applicant has the same process as the other.

Passing on good wishes to everyone in their journey to getting closer to the academy!

I am in the same boat as Wittank22. I received the preference sheet today with no SF86 and no word on interim clearance. I do know that all of references were contacted from my interim clearance sheet.

Now I'm nervous. No preference sheet yet but all my interim references were contacted. Today is going to be a long day

I'm right there with you, Cassandra. I keep checking this site and my email today and glad to see others get their calls and preference sheets, but it's making me nervous as well.

I just received confirmation that my interim clearance references are being contacted today. Hopefully they can wrap it up in one day.

I think they're trying to finish my interim. OPM investigator contacted me for co-worker and supervisor POCs. Sent in my preference sheet yesterday.

Hello everyone,

If I am hired at a GS-09, can someone explain the approximate timeline of increases I could expect? I’ve read different things all over, and I understand that GS-12 to GS-13 isn’t a guarantee, but I’d like to have a rough idea of what I’d be making over time. Federal service is very new to me. Basically, I’m looking to fill in the blanks below:

Grade/Step
0 years 09 / 1
1 years ___/___
2 years ___/___
3 years ___/___
4 years ___/___
5 years ___/___

Also, if you have non-federal relevant service (doing substantially similar work at the state level and an advanced degree), will they ever be willing to bring you in at a higher step or grade? Is there any negotiating at all?

Gs9 - start
GS11 - 1 year after gs9
GS12 - 1 year after GS11
GS12 step 2 - 1 year after GS12 step 1

GS12 step 3 - 1 year after GS12 step 2

Or

Gs13 step 1 - 1 year after GS12 step 2

I think 13 generally depends on you and your work ability. Everything else is almost guaranteed.
