Did you initiate this email or was it sent to you as a courtesy from HR?

August 2018 Applicant

I emailed the HR office today and requested a status update. I was not given any info on a timeline for the next steps but was told that the next steps would be the drug and medical screenings, as well as the background check. I am hoping that things will move along a little faster now that the DoD is taking over some of the process, according to what I read in an earlier post.

Has anyone else been given any corroborating info or any other news for moving forward or a possible timeline?

Nothing yet. Shouldn't be too much longer, though. Good luck to all!

Redaces,

I, like many others in my 08/18 application timeline, recently got the drug disclosure. Did you get that after your interview? I had my interview back in early April of this year and didn't get the drug disclosure until just under a month ago. It seems like you have moved a lot faster in comparison. To my knowledge, none of us have received a conditional offer yet and I'm currently at a year and 3 months since applying. Any chance you know how long the next steps will come for us?

Any information is helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

AlecN,

I may have misunderstood the offer. Looking back it was a tentative offer not conditional. I did do the drug disclosure around the 1st of the year. From my understanding, which I could easily be wrong, I am just waiting for the completion/approval of my background and a preference sheet. Also, I am a current Fed so it is possible that has moved my timeline faster but no confirmation on that. Again I could be way off as my only information has come from here and the limited amount I have been able to get from an HR contact.

I was one of the applicants from the October 2015 Cohort. It doesn’t usually take this long, definitely the exception and not the rule.

RedAces,

That makes a little more sense, but you have still moved a lot faster than many others, especially those from the 08/2018 applicant pool. I doubt that your current federal status has much to do with because I am a fairly recent federal employee and current military/National Guard, which would theoretically move me along faster too. I asked HR if being military would help to expedite the process, but they said that they do full background investigations on every candidate as if they were never in federal service.

Can anyone offer an idea as to how much time is given to complete medical/physical eval? As in: is there a window of time to get it completed and if so, how much time is the window? Or...is an appointment scheduled for you?
I am going out of town (6 hours away) for a week and don't want to miss the opportunity to complete the next step.
Any info is greatly appreciated

For the medical you are good. I had to call a specific number to schedule with Federal Occupational Health Office here. I was due to go out of town the week after I got notice. They were going schedule mine almost 4 weeks out but then squeezed me in.

08/2018 applicants, you should be seeing movement. I received my tentative offer today with more to come as we all are aware of.

I just got my tentative offer as well. August 2018 applicant.

The, ahem, wicked sucky part is that they’re taking me on as a 7...which I’ve already been. I’m under the LEAP pay now, so if I stick with the DI route, I’m taking the LEO pay cut and the grade cut. So that blows goats for quarters. :(
