I failed a polygraph in May of 2013 for an FBI internship. I'm currently going for a public trust clearance for a DOJ internship (no polygraph will be required for the DOJ internship). Will my failed polygraph affect my public trust clearance?

One of my supervisors had previously applied with the FBI and failed the poly. Currently, she still works for the DOJ under a different agency so I don't think it really matters... but I think it depends on why you failed.. As for my supervisor, it was due to domestic issues so I don't think it would weigh as much compared to failing at the poly due to a more serious offense/crime.

They asked me if I had violated the FBI's drug policy. They said my response that I hadn't had come up as false.

As long as you were telling the truth and the BI can verify that through interviewing references, etc., I don't think you'll have any issues. I've heard a lot of ambiguity with the whole polygraph stuff..
