From the Federal Student Loan Repayment Program Calendar Year 2013 Report to the Congress (http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/student-loan-repayment/#url=Repayment-Reports), the Department of Education reported 7 employees receiving the benefit: 1 GS-0343 Management and Program Analyst , 5 GS-1102 Contract Specialists, and 1 GS-2210 Information Technology Specialist. From that I can infer they are only offering the benefit on really hard-to-fill openings. That said, there is still Public Service Loan Forgiveness, if your debt is high enough that its a viable option.
