Hey all,
I'm a GG-12 step 2 and about to step into a GG-11/12 at the GG-11 level.
How does pay setting work in this scenario?

Voluntary if so you'll get a pay cut. If its for the gov's benefit then save pay for a few years

If so, NO you do not have to take a pay cut, depends on why you are doing this. Is it for a new job? Is it for disciplinary reasons? Anyway, a GS-12 step 2 makes $69,867 (rest of US scale), if you accepted a GS-11 KPP GS-12 job as a new job or a promotion, you would move to a GS-11 step 9 $71,449, unless you signed to go down in pay and grade. I only know this because I accepted a GS-7 KPP GS-11 job years ago. I was a GS-8 so even though I went down in grade, I went up in pay.

GG is excepted service under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Program DCIPS.
I'm doing this because I want to return stateside so I applied and got hired. I'm a local hire overseas so I get NO LQA and no PCS right, but this position offered to pay my PCS in full. And it's a great career move, more into what I want to be doing.
So anyways, I agreed to move to the GG-11.
Fortunately I've kinda answered my own question... They just wrote me an email setting my pay at the 11 step 7 level, in 2009 that puts me at $76,095 which is an increase for me.

oh and I should mention that I think they agreed to match my pay, rather than were required since it is voluntary
