Internal Revenue Service
As a bureau of the Department of the Treasury and as one of the world's most efficient tax administrators, the IRS role is to help the large majority of compliant taxpayers with the tax law, while ensuring that the minority who are unwilling to comply pay their fair share. (Source: www.irs.gov)
This forum will allow you to share and ask job-related questions about this bureau. This is NOT the place to ask tax questions.

I've always been told the same thing. Feedback on an interview - request through manager. Feedback on ranking - request through manager. I don't really know why. What position did you apply for?

If you and your manager get along, I would just ask him/her. I am lucky enough to have a manager that likes the fact that I want to move on to new jobs and has been pretty supportive in my journey to find and interview for new jobs. Within the last year, I've actually had three interviews and she really has been great with setting me up with mock interviews and following up with me after the interviews. I've been a TCO for almost 7 years and been stuck at grade 9 so I am READY to move on. Are you looking outside the IRS too? Like I said before, you qualify for grade 9 in just about all 0500 positions.
I just got a job offer for an auditor position for an OIG. While I'm not sure if I will take it if salary negotiations break down, I know that just applying internally wasn't enough. The three jobs I interviewed within the last year was with IRS CI (still waiting on selections), TIGTA CI (not selected), and Auditor OIG (selected). Be patient and expand your horizons.

Case Advocate job takes a certain personality ... you know, someone with caring and empathy ... that's not you!
You should try getting into collections!

"Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. Senate candidate who claimed minority status during law school and as a young law professor, continues to insist that she is 1/32 Native American. Warren’s only proof is her mother’s word."
You have to get into some group ... you could be 1/64 American Indian or something like that ... right?

Remember that story in the news last year ... Rachel Dolezal crafted a fake history of growing up as a black girl, which she used to get a position in the NAACP.
That could be a little tough ... I would probably go with the Native American thing!

Hey guys! What I want to know is, if the IRS says you can't put your picture on your resume ... and they don't use the data from the background questionnaire ... how do they always seem to know what your background is?

So what happened to irs40 ...uh, Gal Fresno?
She's probably busy moving all her stuff from CA to TX ... for a Grade 7, it's not worth it!

This is kind of like the Count of Monte Cristo thing where you read the whole book and find out it's all about waiting and hoping Gal Fresno responds. Mine: Sources report that Senator Elizabeth Warren will donate her congressional salary to benefit needy federal employees until the government shutdown ends. And, some of her peers are following her leadership, and doing the same.
