Yes, my patience has definitely worn thin. Especially being kept in the dark. Hard to plan anything long term when waiting on answers.

Trying to stay positive, we've made it this far!

Any updates from anyone else?

Hi All,

I applied Jan/Feb 2016 for SW. I was referred to scheduling and training in August. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how the new funding will affect academy dates? The new fiscal year starts Oct. 1.

Agrodude,

Did they take your fingerprints when you went for the SI?
I sent them via mail but also got them done when I went for my SI.

Thanks, everything resolved. My background was sent to DC. How long did it take for your background to be completed, did you have to meet with investigators?

From sending in the E-Qip until completion, i would say about 3 months. Yeah I did meet up with an Investigator.

I was just looking through the past threads for the other selection years, and they started to receive their calls for class around December 16th/17th to go to the class in March. This means that if we get selected for that March 10th class, hopefully, we should be getting calls next week. Here is to hoping we get a call soon, this wait has been killer.

I am on the same phase as you. The background investigator is working on my case, and drug test I have not been schedule yet. The background investigation timrframe depends on a number of things.

This is definitely true because sometimes it takes longer depending on how many places you have lived and how hard it is for them to track down much of the information. Even though I have been cleared since August, I have received a couple of calls as the background investigators tie up loose ends. As long as you filled out the form that you are willing to start without the background investigation being fully complete, you can still be sent to selection while they complete the rest of it.

I have a similar experience going through this process. I finished medical and drug test in June and was referred for scheduling EOD early July. Since I moved a couple of times during the last seven years, I was contacted by two investigators and met with one in August. I stayed in contact with the primary investigator clarifying details as far as late September. In summary, I believe my case was closed early October. It has been a long road and a test of patience.

Yeah I have only lived and worked in one city my entire life. My town is very small. I do have another federal background check from previous federal employment, but from my understanding CBP likes doing their own background check. Maybe they now accepting other federal agencies background check. I opted for full investigation and mines is moving along the same time frame as interim. I heard horror stories about people getting fired with interim.

No, CBP still likes doing their own background checks. I had one done when I joined the military and literally the same background database popped up when I went to do this one, all I had to do was update it to fill in the time that I have been in. They still went back and checked everything that was in there from the beginning. I thought mine would be shortened because I am already apart of DHS, nope, CBP still checked everything.

It's probably because you have only lived and worked in one place that has made yours move quicker than say someone who has moved a lot.

So because of my situation, I had to call today to find out if there was any update. Don't know where the March 10th date came from but I was told that they still don't have a date otherwise we would be getting phone calls by now. They are still waiting on getting the exact date and they won't get that until after the New Year. The best known right now is still Spring 2017. Looks like we just need to be patient a little while longer until so keep a steady course and hopefully we all can bring in the new year with some new beginnings.

Happy New Year!
Don't know if this is any help for anyone, but I spoke with one of the aggies from the last academy and informed me they're doing a lot of marching and some self defense classes in Georgia. The physical requirements are not as tough as the officers, but there is more physical activities than previous academies. She also advised getting different boots than the ones given because of their weight. As far the the dates go, her instructors mentioned a Spring class.

Awesome, I have completed my pre-employment forums, qualifications, medjcal, and vbt, which transferred from my previous application. I just started my background check last month. It was sent to security office.

How about you? We should keep tabs.

I was referred to scheduling back in October. I am already a DHS employee, so the process was very quick for me.
