You will get a uniform during the training at the academy... a temporary uniform at Frederick, and then your final official uniform when you get to FLETC.

Hey everyone,
I messaged CBP to see if they could tell me if there’s any academies left this year or if I will have to wait until next year because I needed to know for personal reasons. I got a reply that there are academy start dates every month this year. Let’s hope that is correct!

Thanks for the update. So that would mean that the next start date would probably be in June with the academy after.

So I just got some bad news from the scheduling unit.
“We only have a few spots left for the last academy class for this year, and we are going through the 18-1 list.
Thank you, ”

That is crazy how we both have completely different answers.

Just scrolled through this forum back to page 25. A handful of people a year ago were told the June academy would be the last of the year, then some posted about being called for an October academy, and nothing that I saw after that until the SFO calls for the March academy
Maybe the June academy is the last for their fiscal year, though hopefully they’ll resume the one a month academies instead of more 4-5 month gaps

I know how you all feel...I’m 16-1 and they called me a couple of weeks ago. So, patience is the key to survive this process.

I don’t mind waiting, I’d just like to know a for sure date or be told that it at least won’t be until next year. I can’t go to training eight months pregnant so the heads up would be nice. Lol

Officially withdrew my tentative selection as another good, stable opportunity came along. For reference, I was an 18-3 who was just about to begin the subject investigation of the BI. Thanks to those posters who provide valuable information and updates. Good luck to all!

I am honestly considering doing this. Every since the investigator showed up to my job it’s been hell. Getting that email was like a fatal blow. I’m looking for something more concrete now. BAP1015, I agree. Knowing details would definitely help during the wait.

18-3, I just started a job that's pretty stable but going away sometime next year. I am really hoping things pan out before then. I sent all my stuff in for a medical review, did my drug test, and got an email on the background check being started. Not sure there's much I can do but wait. My percentage did go up from 29% to 43% because of the drug test being done.

I feel that the answer lies somewhere in the middle of the answers you both received. The federal hiring process is extremely inconsistent. I know it's frustrating. I worked for the Gov't before (Department of the Interior) seasonally and was given a start date of June 1st, I didn't start until July 1st after I had already relocated and moved into an apartment. My background check took them forever. I would say don't put your life on hold bu the Federal process is slow, painful, but usually always worth it :)

Yeah... but, I used to work for DOI as well, and I can honestly say that DOI is head and shoulders above DHS in all respects when it comes to administration. I hope it'll be worth the ride for you guys. Your patience is amazing.

I'm an 18-1 and my BI was finally marked as complete and I am now at 57% (pretty sure I'm way behind most 18-1 applicants). Drug test still shows "In Progress"

I wonder how many people are in the 18-1 ((category applicants/hired)) I'm an 18-1 still waiting to be called.

Met with the background investigator and it appears they're working through my background check now, sent everything to med review, and I took the drug test, so now I guess all I can do now is sit and wait. I am an 18-3.

Was anyone else asked to fill out the Medical Self Certification form? I’m an 18-1 and completed my medical over a year ago. If you were asked to complete it, did your percentage on the application tracker drop like mine did? It says, “follow up.”

It says, “follow up.” It's a re-certification form basically to certify that nothing has changed since your medical exam last year. You have to complete one every year until you get hired. I believe the medical exam stays valid for around 3 years before you have to do it again so you just re-certify every year until you are hired or if it expires. I haven't heard of anyone having to re-do the full exam, they are usually hired before it expires.
