I applied for a HUMINT collection position 8/10. Position closed 8/23. I received a phone call for an over the phone interview which I had on 10/24 I believe. The interview was your standard "Name a difficult situation and how you handled it...Name a way you used a technical skill/ability to become successful" type questions. Of course it was questioned in a much more difficult and articulate manner than your normal job though. It was then followed with questions from me and the two interviewers on the phone telling me more about the position, job location, and agency. Then said my application would be forwarded to HR or another step in the process and they would reach out to me (It was not implying that this was guaranteed or that I passed the interview). Though personally, I thought the interview went really well.

It is now 11/22 and I have not heard anything back and the status on my application is still at "screen". I wanted to see if anyone else had applied for this type of position and what their timeline was like.

I know that this type of position will obviously not move along as fast as say someone coming in for an accounting role but is it not looking good for me at this point?

Timeline to be updated periodically
08/10/16 - Applied
08/23/16 - Position closed
10/24/16 - Phone Interview
11/22/16 - Update1, Application status still at "Screen". No Communications with agency.

They are usually pretty good about notifying you by email if you are not selected. The status on the jobs page may not change, even after you get the "Thanks for playing, no lovely parting gifts" email.

Is it not looking good for you? I wouldn't go that far. I often wonder how much the interviewers understand about the HR end of things, or if they are just instructed to tell applicants "a couple of weeks."

Basically the same timeline as OP but my phone interview was earlier this month and I was given a apx 2 week time frame as to hearing back if a CJO would be extended but so far I haven't heard a peep. I also applied for the other HUMNIT posting that closed a few weeks ago and my status for that one reads " non-select" but the interview was from the one 08/16 with a status of "screen."

I hope I get a interview for the 8/23 HUMINT posting. Mine has been at "screen" for a long time now. I was given "non-select" for the invitational HUMINT event.

Was the HUMINT invitational event another job posting that you applied to besides the 8/23 application?

Yah. Has anyone on here who had a HUMINT phone interview heard anything or gotten a CJO or a second interview? They said I'd hear something within 2 weeks and it's been way beyond 2 weeks now.

Nothing here. At this point I am assuming that the interview didn't go as well as I thought or that the people beyond the interview didn't accept me. Wish they would just update the damn online status to non-select if so instead of all the anticipation.

What I'm thinking maybe is that our phone interview was a first round with the second round being a f2f at the job fair I was at in Crystal City last week, interviewing for a different department, as there was a HUMNIT box behind the check in table. So perhaps those who interviewed us over the phone just didn't word the process correctly to us. It just wouldn't make sense to conduct phone interviews for some and invite others for a f2f later who are competing for the same jobs, unless the phone interview was a screen/first round. If you consider the two week window between our phone interviews and the job fair there was at minimum a week and a half so they could have reasonably expected us to attend the job fair for round 2.

There was a recent announcement for HUMINT, followed by a "hiring event" announcement for several fields, including HUMINT. I guess a lot of people probably applied to both.

What do you mean there was a HUMINT box behind the checkin table?

Wonder if they are holding off with offers to the applicants to the first announcement until they see who showed up to the second.

I received a CJO from a HUMINT career field about 3 weeks after the phone interview. There may still be hope for you.

By any chance, did you check your status on the DIA jobs site? Has it been updated?

Awesome! When was your phone interview and when did you get the offer? Within the last two months?

Like behind the check in desk there were boxes on tables with a paper in front that read "HUMINT, Anyalsis, office management, etc. I assume that's where they were storing our apps.

They would never expect someone who lives 6 states away to make plans in two weeks to attend these events as they are not held in every state/region. Also, didn't you say that the job fair was a separate job announcement that you Had to apply for? Wouldn't seem very efficient to have people apply to another after the interview. I don't think that is what it is but I do have the last hope that old guy is right and they are holding my application until after the fairs. Though that other guy just said he got a cjo so idk.

I also interviewed later October, was told on the spot that I passed, and have not been contacted since.

Was anyone able to find out:
1) How long the entire process is supposed to take? and
2) If/when we would learn/choose our career field [clandestine, debriefing, ops support, etc.]?

Passed as in you were given a CJO or passed like some of us who were told "you'll be contacted by HR in 2 weeks?"

Neither, the interviewer just told me I would move forward to the next step in the process.

You should start getting emails to schedule your processing at CPC.

As for which track you get, who knows. Maybe your offer letter will say.

How long does the entire process take? Ah. Good question. When you show up for work the first day, then you will know how long it took for you. Processing at all levels seem to be very slo o o ooo o oo www these days.

AN ADDED THOUGHT: I hear that the CPC is really swamped and trying to catch up... maybe they are holding off on formal offer letters (emails) and scheduling more CPC appointments? Just speculation on my part... see standard disclaimer below :)

We were told that 8000 people had applied (in all practice areas, I think - there were a lot of people there to interview for HR as well as intel jobs, for example) and they were interviewing about 1000 people in the three days of the event. One of the directors speaking to prospects in my interview waiting room said that people had come from all over the country. I made flight/hotel arrangements within the hour of getting the invite email, and Priceline was already showing double digits having "booked [that hotel] in the last hour" - I wondered how many people were interviewing.

I was kibbutzing with a guy in valet parking and he was the first one to tell me that they were interviewing 1000. I thought for sure that was a mistake, that the 1000 number must include the interview panels as well as the interviewees - nope. They really did interview that many people in three days. It was a pretty epic looking operation. I think they had 75-100 people working the event (check in, HR/offers, runners that escorted people to their interviews at tables in the ballrooms, people herding stray candidates to where they needed to be). They had copy machines, computers, tons of files and file boxes, and everything seemed to move very quickly and smoothly.

I thought I'd be able to return to my room after my interview but my runner told me to park myself back in my original waiting room because I'd hear about whether or not I'd get a CJO within two hours. It only took one. When I sat down HR had the letter ready, on letterhead, all official. Very impressive turnaround. The logistics had to be pretty bonkers, but the HR people seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.

For anyone wondering "when will I get X" or "how long to wait until I get Y" I'd say this:

1. They just gave CJOs to at least 500 people, if not more, seven days ago. I would imagine it took at least a week to get everything they had at the Doubletree back into their offices with all the components parted out to individual hiring officers. All of those CJOs now have to be scheduled for their drug tests and fingerprinting in their home areas, etc.

AND

2. It's the holidays.

When I went for my interview on the second day I was told that they had interviewed 300 people and given 200 conditional offers to people on the first day. So about 500 conditional offers probably sounds right. I got a conditional offer about 30 minutes after my interview. The employees working were really on the ball.
One of their contractor contacted me yesterday to schedule a drug test. It seems like they want to drug test everyone shortly after giving offers.

I see you received a CJO so maybe they discussed this at the event - if you apply for a HUMINT position, what is the job title you receive? It was never clear to me how one goes about becoming a clandestine officer - the DIA website does not indicate you are not supposed to talk about your application and these job events seem to be known to the public. Is it the case that you first get a job within the HUMINT and then later on it is decided if you are suitable for clandestine work?
