I was wondering if anyone heard anything about the ICE General Attorney position. I received a notice that I was being referred to the hiring manager, but the email further states that "Applicants have not been referred to the hiring manager at this time...." I tried to call and get some info on what that exactly means, however, no one seems to know. I assume it means that if/when they plan to hire at the locations I applied to that I will be referred.
Any ideas?

I also applied to this position and was referred to the hiring manager. One of my locations stated that I was referred to the hiring manager, but the other two stated that applicants had not been referred at this time. It sounds as though certain locations were given hiring authority for a certain number of slots and others may be granted hiring authority at a future time? I am in southern California. I have not heard anything further. I received my notice of referral on 2/7 for the location is hiring, but no request for interview.

Nothing here. I spoke with the contact provided in the announcement a couple weeks ago. She said that they had to send their list of interviewees within 30 days of the certified list. She said that they could ask for a 30 day extension, but that everything seemed on schedule. She told me that if I did not hear anything by April, then I was not selected. Not feeling optimistic now.

I have a friend who applied in December or January (maybe earlier? I reviewed his resume but can't remember when) and he was selected in January and started in February (squeezed in before the hiring freeze affected him). He was selected for a middle of nowhere location but got his foot in the door. There are lots of offices along the southern border that are going to need lots of attorneys: I'd apply there. With that being said, don't expect the agency to permit you to transfer to a more desirable office in the future. Those are hard-to-fill locations and the agency is hesitant to let people move from there.

Thanks for the info! I called the contact number and spoke with a nice lady a couple of weeks ago. She said that there was a glitch in the system and that they had to manually scan in all of the application packages in order for the individual field offices to be able to view them and select interviewees. She said that they had just finished and that interviews would occur within a week or two. I have not heard anything, so I assume that I was not selected for an interview. Good to know about not really being able to transfer, because my local office was not hiring and I was hoping to transfer for a more reasonable commute after a year or two!

I'm not saying it's not possibile: I just wouldn't take a job in a hard-to-fill location expecting to move in the near future.

Anybody know what the hiring timeline is for this position? I have read other places that DHS/ICE do their own background investigations, but everything I've seen indicates that it takes just as long as OPMs. Edited by user Monday, June 5, 2017 8:34:02 AM(UTC)

Has anyone applied to the posting that closed at the end of September? I spoke with Dallas and was told that ratings were about to go out.
