Is "suitability" the same thing as adjudication? Who told you your packet was sent there? The NBIB contractor that did my background/clearance told me that my packet "was no longer on his desk". Does the packet go strait from Background Investigator to DEA adjudication? Or are there other steps? Anyone know?

There can be more than one Investigator working on your case. The Investigator that finished your interview and portion of the investigation in his his/her area may indeed no longer have it on his desk. However, any part of your investigation that is out of the area may still be pending in the field, depending on how back logged the area is. So in one area your case may be done but items still can be pending in a different field office.

The case does not get submitted to adjudications until all of the fieldwork is completed.

I emailed the DEA Security office asking for an update and was told that they have completed their investigation and forwarded all information to the Diversion office. Does anyone have insight on what this means? I still haven’t heard from an OPM Investigator. Thanks in advance for any info!

Im not entirely sure to be honest. I called my HR rep a few weeks ago and he was only able to tell me that my packet was with “suitability” but I have yet to meet with an investigator for my clearance.

I also called back after that, left a message, sent two emails, and found out he was ferloughed from the government shutdowns and I have had no further contact.

My understanding with background checks is that there is a database and multiple investigators interview people that you have listed and then try to find some people that you did not list.

I always revert back to what my Drill Sergeant told me at Fort Benning, “you might as well treat it as confession because their gonna find out anyways”. I know in my region there is only 19 NBIB investigators that cover Upstate New York and I am probably not a priority because I live near DFAS, Lockheed Martin’s testing facility, and Fort Drum.

Dam, no summer class huh? Was hoping the rest of 2015 and a lot of 2016 would get into a class this calendar year.

It will probably all depend on which backgrounds get cleared first. I am not holding my breath though...

DEA contacted my supervisor today. He told me.

Guess that is good news, not holding my breath. My patience with this process is about over.

I’m with ya. They contacted my Supervisor in January, but no other part of my background has been done.

Not a peep two months later.

Now less than three months away from hitting two years in the hiring process.

What a joke.

Yeah. Not gonna lie my contract investigator met with me, called all my past employers, and my new employer since I started this new job since the interview of the Diversion Investigator.

Not gonna lie I’m just gonna assume this wont pan out, but my question is that if the background comes through does that carry over to other agencies?

Realistically, from what I am reading on other forums, they are still on 2015 applicants and the academies are few and far between. Im assuming that they cannot be hurting fo bad for vacancies as the onboarding process is the aloweat Ive heard of.

Not sure about the backgrounds transferring.

Agree with you though on not panning out. I've moved to a new state a few months ago and now my location preferences are different than what I originally chose.

Figure though probably won't have to worry about it anyway.

I applied in 2016 too- did my equip last Oct/Nov, met with investigator early in Spring of 2018 if I remember right. Received an accelerated email after I met with investigator and havent heard anything since. Emailed them early June and they told me my background is still pending with OPM. Very long process.....
