*crickets*
Yes, it's been a while in here.
Interviewed, and was contacted for an interview, for two separate DoE positions the week before inauguration. First contacted my mgr, who gave me the impression that an offer was imminent. I missed the call for my second interview, and I guess I'm just sol for that one, as they've been MIA since the scheduling voicemail.
Any chance anyone knows if the freeze (or some variation of it) is still in effect at DoE?

DoE = Department of Energy
DoED or just ED = Department of Education
But no, no idea what DoED's situation is right now, but I wouldn't get your hopes up about those positions. Unfortunately it sounds like you weren't too far along in terms of formal paperwork on their end before the freeze hit :(

I did get an email from the prog director stating that she hoped they could use the existing cert once the freeze was lifted. I suppose I could reach out, but I don't want to be annoying. Thanks for the update, or rather confirming that there is no update.

Some certs were extended specifically for the purpose of keeping them valid until the freeze was lifted. I know they extended mine for 6 mos. If they end up not going through with your hiring, I don't think it'll be because of that, but who knows. People have been starting to hear back so hopefully you'll hear something soon! Good luck!

Oh jeez. I hope that's not the case for the other agencies. DoED was looking at a budget cuz of >$1B for FY2017 according to Congress's budget, so maybe those agencies that aren't being cut this year won't be put in that same situation. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking :/

Noticed the same for Interior, but I haven't been looking too closely. We shall see, I guess.

Just curious if anyone has heard any kind of update from ED. I know the budget was kicked down the road by a CR, should that be the new expectation for any kind of "thaw"? Has there been any announcement regarding ED's reorg plan that was due Sept 30?

Got an update today from Dept of Ed. The offer I was given just before the freeze has been rescinded and the Dept will remain frozen until at least Sept 2018 (at least FSA).
Hope that’s helpful to someone...
