It is not good social policy to put the entirety of retirement decisions in the hands of workers. Same argument applies to those who say we should do away with Social Security. Trading pensions for TSP contributions would certainly lead to worse retirement outcomes for the average employee.

It's just a proposal. NO presidents proposal ever gets passed. They are trying to bring public worker benefits closer in line to public benefits. I do like the 6 weeks paid family leave he is proposing though. I still would like to see a higher tsp match. Us youngsters can really bank on that. My moms work matches 10% and she's sitting on just shy of a million dollars in under 30 years.
