I applied to Tax Examiner Technician in Andover, MA. As of right now, I've received my TO, scheduled for fingerprints, and awaiting e-Quip.

What do you do now? Even though I served in the military, I am technically new to the government sector. I never knew the wait times would be so long though *nodding head*. I did receive an e-mail for scheduling my fingerprint session today. Right now I am waiting on my e-Quip.

Could someone in the position explain to me the training process for the position(s) Tax Examiner and Tax Examiner Technician? I have an aunt who works for the IRS for over 37 years and an aunt who recently retired after 39 years from the IRS. Neither of them worked as TE or TET. They were CR's. Thanks.

I am a CR not a TE, but nobody that is a TE is going to be able to tell you what the training will involve because TE's can be assigned to several different departments with several different job functions. The training will be focused on what department and function they assign you to.

You will receive several weeks of classroom and computer based training before you do the job. They delve out an enormous amount of information, The training can get tedious and frustrating, but do your best and you will get through it.

Any job at the IRS revolves around constant change. You will need to be ready to adapt to changes almost daily. Knowing how to research is the key to being a success here.

OK. I was just extended a tentative offer for TE in Illinois. The issue is that I am to take fingerprinting for TET for Andover on Monday, and Illinois wants me to fingerprint for them ON THE SAME DAY! What do I do? It seems like I was not given an option to choose a date. Is it at all possible to alert Illinois of my fingerprinting session for Andover, MA for that date? Is it possible for them to share the fingerprinting information?

PROGRESS. Which place did you go for the fingerprints? Illinois or Massachusetts? I would think the fingerprints should be able to be used for either job. Did you let them know your situation? Which position is you first choice uf you get offered both?

My first choice is Andover, however, I can do Illinois, as I have family in both Massachusetts and Illinois that are looking into the real estate for me. I guess it will lie on who extends the final offer first.

I was told by my sponsor in Illinois that as long as I did my fingerprinting within the last 3 months of excepting the TO, then everything should be fine.
