Awesome, CONGRATS! Called for a follow-up. They stated the people who are doing the medical back East are very backlogged, I hope none of them or their family were affected by the storms that were in the area. They had no update on my medical and stated my BI was still moving forward. I’m amazed at how I had no issues waiting and it was never really on my mind before they started contacting my references. Ever since then I hit refresh 10x a day on the portal to see if there is an update. Edited by user Friday, September 15, 2017 9:54:15 AM(UTC)

Congrats on passing! I'm sure you're relieved it's over :) Now the "fun" part starts haha!
WaitingGame...we seem to be in the same spot. I also didn't seem to care about the BI until they called and said it was "starting". So many people called to tell me that they'd been contacted. I got excited...and that was a mistake lol. I check for a status update several times a day. I have to stop, it drives me nuts ;) |

Most people I know have experienced a two-month medical clearance timeframe. However, like the background investigation, there is a wide range of potential timeframes. I had my medical exam six months ago and have not been cleared.

Any reason your medical was held up? They have not asked me any follow up questions. The only reason I have received is that they're backlogged. There are three people that started at Quantico two days ago that processed out of my field office who all had their medical exams after me and from the same location. It seems they don't necessarily look at medical files in the order they are received.

Yikes, that would be frustrating. Since you have been adjudicated you are basically just waiting for medical clearance to get a decision. |

Going to echo Elysium here. I was told medical is holding me up and it's the last thing. As a data point, I had my medical in 12/2016 and submitted follow up in 1/2017. Nothing since.

I received an email today from my FO letting me know what I needed to submit to complete my file. Let me say this, if you are a veteran with a disability rating, you need to go ahead and get your VA file ahead of time. Specifically, get your VA Ratings Decision/Narrative, THE WHOLE THING. It's a fairly thick packet that you can obtain from your local VA office, or regional office. They *should* be able to fax it to you as well. I think a lot of time can be saved by having this ahead of time and submitting it to your AC or the admin team at the FO, whoever submits the medical files to HQ. I cannot stress this enough...get that damn packet into your medical file. ;)
Also, ask your current physician AHEAD of time, what vaccines you might be due for. Boosters (tDap?), have a current flu shot on record.
Just a suggestion, if you've been in background for a while or held up in medical, I'd make sure you're still current on vaccines.
Also, if you see a specialist for any reason, perhaps on a yearly basis, I'd recommend submitting your most recent records when your med file goes to HQ. Diagnostic tests, progress notes...

I was told I needed vaccines however these are not just shots you can schedule. I found this out when I tried to schedule them. Before any clinic or doctor could order these you need to do a Tider test to determine if you are immune. After that test comes back they can order the booster shots if you need them. However if you are immune it's another process. |

I too wish I had known the VA packet was required. After I did send it in and completed the other follow-up needs, I had asked my AC if medical needed anything more or any further clarification. The reply I received through the AC (from HQ) was that everything was sufficient. Assuming I am waiting on my medical clearance as well - haven't asked specifically though. Has anyone seen a list of the actual medical standards?
I am curious about a prior history of knee surgeries (multiple ACL/Meniscus surgeries). I am currently good to go however wondering if the history of the surgeries will be a show stopper.
Thanks

This is an interesting topic.
About 2 weeks ago I asked my AC when I pass medical will I get a notification or will it just be rolled into the BI results.
The AC responded that there wouldn't be a notification about passing medical. I'm assuming there would be one about failing it.
From reading the post here the AC seems to have given me the wrong information.
My AC also confirmed that there is a huge backlog of applicants waiting in the medical phase because they are understaffed. |

There are probably two piles of medical files. The easily cleared, no need for any higher approval pile that the lower level personnel can pass by a directive and then all of us that are waiting for whatever various reason on that one person to review and sign off on our file. Anon - you seem to be the saltiest of the wait list based on this thread, I am not but a month behind, so I hope you get that medical cleared soon! |

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I seem to be in the exact same waiting stage as many of you. I noticed my processing date changed last week from mid-May to September 13. The only communication I've had recently was a request to submit some follow-up medical info the week prior to my date change. I'm assuming this just means they received my info. Has anyone else seeing a processing date change like this? I don't want to read too much into it, so I'm downplaying it in my head but I cannot help but feel optimistic about the recent change. |

Long time lurker here as well. I can confirm that on the east coast the hurricane delayed the medical process tremendously. My original medical had to be pushed back due to a hurricane, and the next available date was over a month away. I tried calling another medical facility to see if they had something sooner, but their earliest date was also a month a way.
