I did my background investigation and poly in September, and have not heard any word since then.. Were you told your background was finished and you were in Adjudication? Or should I just assume I am in Adjudication as well and keep waiting for any word!

Wow, that's a relatively quick BI process... Only 1 and a half month at most. Mine started in September and I still haven't heard a thing back yet. However, your overall timeline is 10 months, waiting from feb till aug must've been killer...

I actually forgot that I even applied. When I received the email to do the interview, I was surprised.

Two months for the BI is very fast. Plus they had you do the poly after the BI. I hope the rest goes fast also.

Thanks! My BI said I was the easiest he's done in years. I'm pretty young and lived in the same place my whole life so that was a plus too

My BI told me he was done and sent my investigation off at the end of November. Then my recruiter told me I have a month-3 months left. I'm not sure for what but that's what I was told. I heard no word in adjuration is a good thing though so hopefully you and I both will receive FJOs soon. Good luck!

Here's my timeline so far:

11/13/2018 - Applied

11/15/2018 - First contact with recruiter

11/17/2018 - CNT Test

12/17/2018 - Operational Interview

My interviewer told me he wants to move forward with me and will submit the necessary paperwork to make a CJO. Waiting for the official CJO now. So far things seem to be moving quickly which is nice. I know it will probably slow down by the time I get to the BI.

Maybe that is based on the recruiter's recent experience with how long adjudication is taking for most cases. Who knows... hopefully you will find out soon!

Does that mean security asked you to update some info?

Yes, I received an email to add or clarify some things.

Long Story:
9/3/18 - Applied
9/11/18 - Resume/Unofficial Transcripts requested
10/3/18 - Spoke with the department's Hiring Manager after the Virtual Career Fair and was notified I'd be hearing about an interview soon
10/22/18 - Received Recruiter Information/Notification of Selection and informed the scheduling team will be in touch with me soon.
10/25/18 - Contacted by Scheduling Team via phone
11/9/18 - In Person Interview
11/30/18 - Verbal CJO
12/4/18 - Official CJO email
12/4/18 - CJO accepted
12/12/18 - eQIP login received

12/20/18 - eQIP submitted

Gotta say, those forms are a little nerve-wracking. No foreign contacts or travel, but had quite a few jobs to list, and a few residences. Now the actual waiting game begins.

I haven't been asked for my official transcript yet, but I've been scheduled for Poly/Psych and had a meeting with the BI. Should I just go ahead and pay for it to be sent or what? I did send my unofficial transcript to the person that gave me my interview though if that matters.

Yes, I would send over your official transcript now. Your TOL letter should have had an address that you could send transcripts to.

Entry level software engineer here. I submitted my SF-86 forms and am waiting on the BI to be completed. Does anyone know if there's another operational interview after the BI? I've read a couple of confusing things regarding that.

@Jay There shouldn't be another operational interview since you got the offer for the position already, unless you got an interview for a different role. The operational interview gets you the CJO.

HOWEVER, what I can glean from other people's posts is the following:
After you submit your SF-86...

1. The NSA's security office reviews your forms. After they decide it's good enough, they hand it off to the BI. This can take a while.

2. You have a subject interview with the investigator. If you have forgotten, "forgotten", or if you need to clarify anything that is in the investigation scope or may pop up during the investigation, this is your last chance to do it without it counting against you for "personal conduct" reasons. The investigator may have already done some legwork before meeting with you.

3. Your background investigation gets carried out to completion by one or more investigators. Completion time depends on the complexity of your investigation.

4. You will have a polygraph and interview with psych to assess your suitability. This can happen at any time, even before your investigator meets with you. If you're scheduled for your poly before meeting up with the BI and have something you forgot to mention, CYA by talking to the IC Hire helpline and confirm how you should update your security info.

5. If some sort of red flag pops up that you didn't tell them about, or if they want additional information, they may set aside time to interview you further.

6. An adjudication and suitability decision is made. Your case may be re-opened if they need to get more info to adjudicate you properly. This can also take a longggg time.

Good luck!!
