Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. To qualify for these benefits, most American workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; future benefits are based on the employees' contributions. (Source: Wikipedia)

Congrats, United 007! Best wishes to you in your new position. Thank you so much for sharing! Are you in the NYC area? Did you get your fingerprints done after your interview? Also, did your status change on usajobs.gov?

Thank you! I still have to get my fingerprints done. I'm in NJ. My status did change to selected.

Hi! I interviewed at Social Security Administration (Jamaica, NY) on December 4th, 2018 for the Claims Specialist position. No fingerprint. no reference check yet. Does anyone have any updates for this?

No one has any updates? How many days after the interview did you hear back from SSA offices from Jamaica, NY or from NYC?

Nope, no updates yet sadly. I was told the process takes a month or two. I had my interview a month ago. I expect we'll hear something soon. Most likely an NOR status update from usastaffingoffice. Hoping so anyway. Fingers crossed.

Just curious... what is the difference between a SSA claims specialist and a benefits authorizer?

Thanks! Guess that explains it although they all sound quite similar to me. Is there a certain hierarchy to these titles?

It has been 2 months since I had an interview but I've not heard anything. I even called today but receive an automated message saying that we will receive a status update via email and they won't respond to an individual status update request. Any update?

Brooklyn still shows Received, Manhattan/Richmond/Bronx should have updated the status on USAJOBS.gov
