Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits. To qualify for these benefits, most American workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; future benefits are based on the employees' contributions. (Source: Wikipedia)

Has anyone received an offer for these positions yet? My interview went well, and was told if hired the class would begin June 25, but a friend who works there said it is likely delayed because they are hiring for multiple classes and it's a logistical nightmare.

Is it common for the application status on USAJOBS to stay in "not referred"? Mine has been in not referred since early April when I submitted app originally, however a week later I got an email saying I was referred for GS-5, but not GS-7 (I didn't earn a graduate degree). Then a few weeks after that I got a call for an interview, then a few weeks after that I interviewed. But the status never has changed.

The interview process was great. It was a panel, there were questions, STAR questions, some light mathematics and logic, and a tour of the floor.

Hope I get some good news soon!

Truly, no one in KC has any info on this? Sorry for the comment bump--I just didn't expect radio silence from SSA since they had a date for the class. I am just assuming that the class has been delayed.

Nothing specific, but it's very common for classes to be pushed back, and can be done for any number of reasons. I was given two weeks to show up, non-negotiable, so be ready.

My friend in that office indicated that they did start a class today but that it is likely for veterans and internal applicants, and that there should be 5 or 6 classes starting a week apart, but that interviews are still happening daily. I have not received a rejection notice as of yet.

I am trying to have the patience often needed for this type of waiting game, but my current employer (private sector) is having massive layoffs (thousands of people) and I am anxious to get something lined up.

I ended up calling the HR contact on USA Jobs. My interview was May 15 and I have heard absolutely nothing since then. The person I spoke with indicated that I am still in the race until I get communication clearly stating that I was not selected. They also posted another listing for the BA position in KC, which I would love to apply to if I am going to be denied from my existing round of applications and interviews.

This waiting game is just really intense.

You should apply first and ask questions later.

I ended up receiving an offer for KCMO while in training in Birmingham. The odd thing was that they'd sent it to my SSA email account, which obv didn't exist at the time of my application... -_-

I'm interviewing for a Sept 4 start date in a couple minutes. Will they budge at all on relocation or even advance on salary to help relocate?

To be clear, my interview was in the Recent Grad hiring authority. Did you folks apply for that as well, or under a different authority?

Though I only graduated in May 2017, I applied for the general listing.

I emailed the person who set up my interview. They said I'm still in consideration for a class starting in September.

I applied April 15.

Maybe I'll see you there if we're selected. I'd have to move, probably in a short term run down motel until paid and can relocate my family. Would you be willing to provide guidance if we both happen to get hired?

My listed remained at 'received,' which is why I was confused at first as to which position she was calling about.

My status still hasn't changed from received on usajobs. I was hoping to have heard something by today (or alternatively this coming Friday). This is not leaving much room for organizing a move, 'if' selected.

My status hasn't changed since the day after I applied in April. I got called in for an interview in May, which indicated I was being considered for a class that would start in July.

Right now I'm being considered for a class that starts in September. This is not a fast process.

My July interview was for the first class in September as well. No notice after that interview yet. Will they tell me if I passed that meet and greet test if I were to ask?

I would leave them alone for a while. I called the HR # I found deeply embedded in USAJobs.gov about a month and a half after my interview. And even longer to email David, who coordinated my interview.

I feel if they weren't considering me seriously, they'd have axed me by now. I think they are just filling up on vets and existing employees, so I hope September has room for me.
